Virginia International Raceway
Anyone driven that track? If so what was involved? How did you do it? I'm simply trying to drive somewhere I don't have to worry about jail time for going too fast.

I did an HPDE through NASA Racing last year and the experience was incredible:
http://www.nasaracing.net/schedule/ Basically I signed up for NASA membership, registered for the event, and showed up. For HPDE1 you basically can show up in a totally stock car. Sticky tires, better pads, and an oil cooler are nice. Wear long sleeves and pants!

I would run with Porsche over NASA. NASA group 1 is very crowded

my personal favorite is TrackDaze, ive run with them, porsche, nasa, scca, and Hooked on Driving. Best to worst IMO is TD, HOD, Porsche, NASA, SCCA (all are great, any time you get on track is great). Ive heard Chin is great and they run at VIR as well.
Been there 4 times and its been great. Depending on where you are Carolina Motorsports Park ive heard is fun, Summit in WV has 3 tracks, but Jefferson is meh IMO, and Dominion Raceway is in Thornburg, I havent run there yet and have heard very mixed reviews, none extremely positive.

I love VIR - it’s my favorite track. FWIW, I also like NASA. They run a very well organized and tight ship. I have yet to get a bad instructor.
As far as getting to go fast, VIR has two nice long sorta-straights where you’ll get to wring her out. Do it! |

There are holiday laps coming up on March 2nd. Come out. $20 per 20 min session. See if you like it. Nothing required. It will be... a weird HPDE-like day, but a safe way to get a taste of track time. Hope to see you there! - brian, 2002 C5z06 |

NASA mid atlantic is a great group of people. I actually have the most fun with NASA but you'll get more track time with non-racing orgs like Chin and TrackDaze. Chin brings out real nice machinery but the groups are more stand-offish IMO. Maybe a function of the older and moneyed crowd.

+1 for TrackDaze. They really work to maximize track time. Relaxed, but still safe environment. Really love their open track days where you're basically on track for 4 hrs.
NASA has a fun group of guys and the option to do TT/racing, but seems a bit crowded at times.
