I have the Ptuning header, CEL comes up once a week. I usually clear it with an OBD2 bluetooth scanner. I could've disabled the CEL since I'm tuned with Ecutek, but chose not to.

Oh, so it was just marketing claim :/. Imho they'd better remove it to not do false advertising. Reminds me of mistake in aFe header description, that initially claimed also stock header's heatshield fitment.
Another mad idea of mine was - if Ace header can get just by itself most power gains possible for NA, and rest of exhaust is stock, i wonder if 2nd O2 sensor wire extender harness + bung for it cut after second stock cat in frontpipe can work, or due it being later down exhaust path/different temperatures and other possible differences, sensor placed there will have off-readings compared to what expected anyway and this also won't work?

Don't think ace cares about the cel. There is no point in getting a header without tuning it.

unless you can duplicate the same reading from the o2 sensors as would be seen if the stock cat was in stock position on the stock tune then it probably going to trigger the cel P0420 eventually unless you disable cel, then your still stuck with the failed readyness test unless able to be forced reday by some code maniplation in tune as well

Does anyone remember the good ol' days when you could get a Casper's O2 simulator. Those things worked perfectly.

I had one. I even tried to pull it apart to see the circuitry inside, to try to reverse engineer it. Unfortunately there was no way that thing was coming apart without destroying it.

Just out of curiosity, why would you buy a $1300 header and not have it tuned?

He said he didn't have the code disabled. That's why he still gets CELs. It has nothing to do with tuning. Tuning doesn't cause the car to look for different values - when someone is tuned and they no longer get CELs it's 100% because in the tuning process the tuner turned off the CAT Efficiency codes.

I'm tuned and I don't get CELs for that specific reason.

I think he wants the CEL P0420 active so it does not stop the readyness check from completing. That way he can clear the cel p0420 drive for a bit till readyness check completes then he can pass the emmissions OBD check, while still tuned on catless header.

If you disable the cel code the readyness check wont ever complete and you fail obd readyness check.

just guessing though :-)

I'm running OFT+OFH and just passed emissions inspection in PA. The OBD test was marked 'PASS'. I believe PA allows one or two readiness parameters to be failed but the printout didn't go into any more detail other than 'PASS'.

Why do you care so much about the CEL? I seriously doubt anyone buying an Ace header will not be tuned.
