A new body on an old frame, three years and way too many hours.
Take a 10,000 dollar car spend 5000 in parts and too many evenings and end up with an 18,000 dollar car. Not a good return. |

I once owned a 64 Econoline that the previous owner had crammed a 351 into that little doghouse between the seats. Not even an extensive swap and it still took him 2 years and a pile of cash. Imagine fitting this: Into this:

And it clearly took time away from playing frisbee with that dog over yonder. Definitely not worth it!

Oh it was. Was the short box solid panel (no windows in back at all) version. All black with the Dark Side of the Moon prism covering both sides. The 351 was a Cleveland engine and was fully built, polished, ported and a full race cam. Custom built headers went to Thrush muffled side pipes. Cragar SS mags with 9" wide tires in back and 6" in front. It would take the front wheels about a foot off the ground for a couple of dozen yards with ease. Inside was your typical fake fur and shag carpet bed and bar with quilted walls. There wasn't a pile of space since it was the short version.
The engine crammed into the doghouse was a nightmare to work on since you had to disassemble the whole thing to do something as simple as check the oil. I was constantly battling over heat issues and eventually put a huge rad from a Dodge Powerwagon in it. That was a feat of backyard engineering I would not want to do again! The buddy I sold it to pinched a wire putting the doghouse back together about two weeks after buying it and burned the whole thing to the shell. DAMNIT now I want to build it again. Not sure any pictures of it survive someplace but it was like this one only with no windows or flames, Cragar wheels and the rear jacked up about 6 more inches so the tires would fit.

Drove the BRZ to work today. After all the rain and floods yesterday, I’m grateful I’m still able to do that. Got some high water in my area, but thankfully nothing serious. I had to drive my car onto the highest point on my yard and still only had about an inch of clearance from the water to the underside of my car (wish I knew how to upload pictures). Luckily, everything turned out okay, but it was sad to see all the totaled cars on the side of the road. Very unfortunate

@Will BRZ Glad you are OK, and you were able to get the car up high enough
Easiest way (at least for me) is to resize them to 800x600 then upload them using the paperclip upload into a message. If you have them on a different site somewhere you don't have to resize them, just use the "Insert Image" link in advanced edit.
