2017 86
Hey guys, I bought a 2017 86 a couple weeks ago. 10,000 miles on it. I’ll probably keep it stock for a little bit.

2016 FR-S
Hi,
Have been lurking here for a few months (since I got my FR-S) and decided to "go legit" and join the conversation. Loving my mint-condish little ride with only around 10K miles on it ! Cheers, Chris |

2019 86
Hi guys! I've been pining over the FR-S since it came out, and I finally bit the bullet and got a new 2019 86 last week. I'd been driving an '08 corolla for 10 years (and some motorcycles), and I still can't believe it every time I wake up and remember this is mine:
However, I'm already worried I screwed up my clutch. accidentally launched it at 5k RPM on a hill start, even though I tried my best not to, and smelled clutch all the way home Any pointers on where I can ask in more detail? I looked up every clutch + smell related thread I could find on here and still am not sure...thanks for all the good info and help here. Last edited by JackRabbit; 08-20-2019 at 10:57 PM. |

How far was to home? Probably just in your head. If it's not slipping when you accelerate, it's fine. I've done that plenty of times and my clutch is still going strong. Next time dump the clutch and burn through that rubber instead. . JK, I'm a bad influence, don't listen to that. |

It was a 15-minute drive home after that, and the smell filled the cabin the whole way. I drove it again a few hours later to see how things were, and the smell was gone except for one downshift that i didn't rev-match right, and it gave off a little more burnt smell. Hopefully the regular driving is just clearing out whatever smelly dust is left over and scrubbing the clutch surface clean again? I don't know. Glad it's probably fine! |

As spuds says, don’t worry. The smell lingers a while. So you know, the car has a hill start feature that is disabled by default. But if I were you I’d learn to handle hills without assists. I use the heel toe method where you put you foot on the gas and brake and give it gas and start releasing the clutch before letting off the brake. Congrats on the new car and thanks for keeping the manual alive! |

Well, I read this is the place to go to introduce myself
I'm not new to cars (or tuning) but I'm new to this one. Just bought a 2019 86 GT Saturday as my new daily driver. I'm old and lazy so I opted for the auto (insert boo's and hisses here). I also live in the heart of DFW, Texas and didn't want my left leg twice the size of my right one. I don't "plan" on modding it but we know how that goes. I'll at least wait until it's out of warranty. My other car is heavily modified and satisfies my need for speed in a straight line. I wanted a small, 2 door, RWD with a little pep that was fun to drive. The Fiat and Mazda both lost out being convertibles, so here we are. I'm looking forward to many (s)miles from this one and learning more about it so that, in a few years, if I want to make it do more...I can. BTW, my other car is a 900hp 2017 Dodge Charger Scat Pack...because I know someone was going to ask lol Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk |

Hi Everybody, my name is Fred. I am from Belgium and I just ordered a brand new GT86 (delivery expected mid January 2020), in black, black interior and no rear spoiler.
My intentions with the car are to use it as second car for week-ends and holiday. No track use foreseen. Commuting will be done in my good old Auris Hybrid. I currently also own a Celica T23 (which will be sold when the new toy arrives), and I am wondering if I could fit my Sparco Terra 17*7.5 ET35 without any problem on the GT86 (I will keep stock suspension settings). I keep looking in the archives, and if I cannot find the info I need, I will post specifically. |
