Thats cool, in a 1.4 liter version aswell, most likely restricted by racing regulations. I always thought the g16 would be a given for the gr86, it was already developed(and is a brilliant robust desig), and finally a Toyota engine, with less Subaru stupidness. Makes less sense with the us prices which are super low though, then they need a simple cheap engine.

Not only is it super robust, it would probably weigh the same with all the turbocharger cooling and trimmings, is more fuel efficient and gives considerably more power than we've seen on this platform stock. Would rather have this turbo motor over the FA24F in comparison.

no doubt, and seeing that those engines can go up to 500hp before running into head gasket issues. 3-400 hp in a brz/86 that doesn't gain much weight AND gains reliability, that has to be a insane experience.

i seriously doubt a 400hp 3cyl turbo is really any more fuel efficient at 5k rpm...

A 300hp Toyota engine in an 86, sign me up. Doubtful it’ll come to fruition far quite awhile though.
