Welcome, I've seen a couple of BRZ's in AA, lots of blues!

30mph speed limit, quite a bit of traffic and one passing zone total. About the only time I had fun on it - right after a heavy snowfall at night

Thanks everyone for all the advice! @jasper I appreciate the offer for the help, I might have to take you up on that next time I'm looking for a place. I settled on an apartment in Canton, due to the close location to work and getting an apartment with an attached garage. Since I'm going to be traveling some for work and not planning to drive the FRS during the winter, the garage was an absolute must have for me. I couldn't really find a decent apartment with a garage anywhere else close to work besides in Canton, so that's why no Ann Arbor.

Thanks again for all the help, I look forward to meeting all of you guys!

Thought I would pop in here and introduce myself. I live and work in AA. There should be another DGM BRZ in AA sometime over the next few days. Waiting for delivery from Clint.

I paid for my insurance today. It was much lower than what I expected. 29 y.o. $540 for 6 months. 100/300/100. (And I have been driving for fewer than 4 years in the US.)

Congrats on the new car.

I was saying that the cost of insurnace overall in MI is very high.. not that the FRS/BRZ itself is very high.

My BRZ is actually the cheapest car I have insured. My wife's Sonata turbo is about $30/6mo higher and my pickup truck is about $150/6 mon higher.

I'm hoping to get a chance to quote USAA soon. My father-in-law signed up.. and from what I hear they are very good rates.. A co-worker just switched and her rates dropped over $1000 a year between her and her husband. The catch is that you have to be military or child of military to get into the program.

That is true. I have never had insurance outside MI but my friends (with a similar age/driving history) do mention lower costs.

What surprised me is that I was paying $350 for liability only on my previous car. That makes this new number seem low to me.

Yeah liability is where they hit you with most of the "MI - bend you over costs". It's the unlimited health care liability and no fault.. So basically you're paying extra because the state has so many people without health and auto insurance. and Obama tried to tell us that his insurance plan is going to save us all money.. lol.. just look at how well that works in MI auto insurance.

Not to get all political but isn't that the very point? To make sure everyone has insurance so no one gets stuck carrying people that don't have it?
