340 miles and one full tank later...

I picked up my white, manual tranny FRS Wednesday night with 10 miles and a full tank of gas. I traded in my 2010 Gti with close to 50k miles to carmax for $17k(scion offered me $15,800). My Gti (loved the car) had heated seats (love it), ambient lighting, a great gauge cluster computer which displayed temp/avg mpg/speed/bearings/etc, and a usable trunk lol. I love sports cars but I do wish more came in hatch back form, it's extremely convenient and looks awesome!

My first impressions on the FRS was "I wish I had heated seats and this came in hatchback form" lol (I know the brz limited has heated seats but I'm not willing to pay $30k+ OTD, $27.5k OTD felt high enough for the car. As I'm driving the car I am enjoying it more and more. The head unit which looked awful and old now feels practical and well thought out. The seats were pretty aggressive, but after adjusting it and finding the perfect seat position, quite well designed to hold me in and not fall out. The shifter, I thought the sticking was annoying in my test drive, but bc the shifter is torso height, the stitching place, want makes sense. The list can go on and on, and I'm sure you can add to the list lol

340 miles, and one full tank fill up later, enjoying the car more and more every day...

Background on my vehicle history:
1997 Nissan pathfinder(hand me down from mom)
2006 toyota camry (dad traded my pathfinder for this car)
(Ditched cars for motorcycles)
2008 Kawasaki ninja 250
2005 Kawasaki ninja 636
2000 Honda s2000 6 sipped manual(obviously lol)
2010 vw Gti 6 speed manual
Current: scion FRS 6speed manual

Congrats on the purchase but was that oversized picture necessary?

I had that same thought. It is easy to get spoiled by heated seats.

But they can always be added if you so desire.

Congrats on the purchase!

I'm thinking about purchasing someone's BRZ cloth seats and swapping the seats instead. The cloth material on the frs seats stink.

Congrats man! I've got a mk6 GTI and FR-S. I like them both, but to be honest, I barely drive the GTI anymore

Does it get really cold in Cali? I hated heated seats in Georgia in my old RL.

Heated seats are over rated!

Congrats on the purchase.

I'm very interested in hearing more about how you like the car compared to the GTI. Was your GTI stock? I ask because I'm in a MKV GTI right now. How does the acceleration compare to the GTI? The FRS is lighter with the same horsepower but definitely down on torque.

I like my heated seats. When you have back issues as I do and many others it feels great to put some heat on your back. Certainly not over rated.

I have a 2006 GTI/DSG along with my BRZ. The GTI is a torque monster and pulls without effort as you know from low revs.

The BRZ/FR-S needs to be worked a bit to get speed. It does not pull as hard as the GTI. There is much more sturm und drang driving the BRZ/FR-S compared to the GTI.

That being said the BRZ is a blast to drive and just feels great in the corners.

Thanks for the input. Just by looking at the dyno you can certainly tell the BRZ would be lacking the low end power I've come to love out of this 2.0T engine. Certainly power isn't everything, but low end torque for a daily is a huge selling point.

I take it back then ... over rated was just my opinion but in your situation I can see it being a nice to have feature in any car.

When you sit in heated leather seats for the first time and its 30*F out with extreme wind, the distance from the driveway to the front door seems like a mile. First time I sat in heated seats in the winter, I sat in my car for 30 minutes in the driveway until the wife called me to ask what I was doing in the car all this time.
