Yes first gen coilovers will fit. Whether springs rates on those coilovers transition well to the new chassis is TBD.

This is why you don't delete the resonators. So many cars are ruined by guys removing all cats/resonators and running tiny mufflers because they want it LOUD, regardless of how crappy it sounds.

Agreed. Usually straight piping a Miata is a bad idea unless you're going for a lawn mower sound, but I straight piped mine with two massive resonators in line and it sounds absolutely mint. Not ear rape loud, but very audible and no rasp.

A 4 banger typically does not have a good sound to begin with, especially the smaller displacement ones.

I had the MXP cat-back (not the Comp RS) on my '15 BRZ, with the rest of the exhaust stock and it had a pleasant low tone that was quiet at idle/low throttle/cruising, and opened up just enough at full throttle to be fun.

A lot of it stems back to the fart can exhausts people started putting on Honda's back in the 90s.

IDK, I can think of a few great sounding small displacement 4-bangers, they're just not in cars.

You have more options in the GR86, but you could use many parts in a BRZ too:
