Question Handling package pricing - What's the deal, Toyota?

Now that the 2020 Toyota 86s are up on their website, we can finally take a look at the available options and pricing. I'm a little confused as to why the "TRD Handling Package" costs $75 more than the BRZ "Performance Package."

If you look at this screenshot I've put together, you'll quickly see that for an extra $75, you get a TRD badge on your trunk, and STOCK WHEELS.

WTAF, Toyota?!

Seems like all 2020 manual GT trims will come with 18" wheels. The base 86 performance handling package costs more since it will then be adding the 18" wheels. And yes, badges are stupid expensive, so that's more likely where that extra 75 bucks comes into play.

Those are the 18" wheels.

They give you sachs dampers and brembo brakes all around for only $1,270 and you complain... Can't believe they didn't also include some $3k wheels with that. Cheap bastards.

The brembos alone are worth it.

I really don't see how people are complaining of that cost. The miata's brembo and bbs pack is around 3k.

Installing sachs dampers and brembos on an 86 is more than worth that cost especially when street braking isn't that bad to begin with. For that price you get an OEM setup out of the box and some level of piece of mind, and you don't have to wrench on it to get everything aligned as you would if you did it yourself.

Wait, badges are expensive? You mean those plastic bits they do runs of 10,000's of? When did this thinking come about? I'm just missing the sarcasm because I'm tired, right?

I'm not complaining about the cost overall, just that Toyota is offering LESS stuff for MORE money.

Because the PP wheels aren't mentioned. Although someone said they're all coming with 18s now.... so if that's true it's a moot point.

Yeah, that was me who said all manual GT trim come with 18s, so that's why I don't get why the OP insists on the whole "less for more" thing.
