for any one interested, I'm doing a partial part out. I've already sold my header. The supercharger kit and the injectors are up for grabs:

Before my engine blew up. Had the best track time chasing a REALLY good driver in an RSX.

another update, started to pull everything apart since the engine was coming out. took off the manifold, port and direct injector rails, and coolant bypass pipe? not sure what it is, but it was also damaged on the underside when the piston snapped..

a few chunks I found in the bay with this bent bolt.... lol

I decided against going with a built motor. I sold my kraftwerks kit and I will be purchasing a JDL turbo kit soon and use a different tuner and see how my luck turns out this time around. end goal would to be to get this car running, and while it's on it's second block; save up some money for a build when the time comes again, possibly during next winter because they suck here in Chicago.

Why take the motor apart before you have it out?

What kind of tune were you running on the car when it blew? My vortech just ate my 2nd engine, so i'm in the same boat. Although I didn't have catastrophic failure like you, I most likely have a ring issue. Last motor was bent rod, but I caught it quickly.

As of last night i'm ready to yank it. Thankfully this motor is a breeze to pull out. You don't have to remove the rad / condenser, but i also was dealing with a minor coolant leak so I pulled it all anyways.

sorry for the late reply on this one; but the reason why I started taking it apart when it was still in the car because at the time I didn't have an engine stand/workbench to take it apart on. So the car was basically acting as the mount for me to work on it. It was the just the flex fuel tune from Moto-East. roughly around 300whp. The car was driven on the tune for a good 2-3 years with multiple track sessions in between. To be honest, I can't be mad. I made it basically to 40k miles. more than half were boosted and daily'd and track driven.

I am still perplexed to this day how/why i had catastrophic engine failure upon deceleration.

PS if you still haven't pulled your motor; don't be like me and forget the two ground wires underneath the engine screwed into the frame on both sides towards the front. I forgot to unbolt those and they got ripped when I pulled my engine. Good luck with future build!

correct. just going to run it as is and hope for the best. if the second one blows then I'll either have to LS swap or K swap unfortunately. To be honest, I don't really feel like building an FA20.

I did the same thing for my 2nd motor. Picked one up with 8000 miles on it from a rear end totalled car. Was $3,300 shipped to my door.

It was May when my first engine went, and I just wanted to get back on the road.

So far, building the FA hasn't been bad. Spent about $4k so far on parts, but hopefully I won't have to do anything but rebuild heads in 50k or so.
