Nothing. Everything. The definitions are too similar, and the pattern of use among society isn’t clear enough to justify arguing a difference. The only pattern I have noticed is “flagship” gets used more often to describe the best car from a manufacturer in a given segment like the flagship SUV can exist along with the flagship sedan, and a halo car seems to more often be associated with performance and epitomize the future design language the brand hopes to follow. This doesn’t mean it has to be a sports car.

The land cruiser is the most expensive.
The Supra today would be the best performance currently, even though what's underneath.
Well flagship is usually indicating the absolute best product in one's lineup. Usually goes to the most full featured/biggest/most expensive car for auto manufacturers.

In Toyota's case I think that goes to the Century. This can be broken down by region though as the Century is Japan only. For example in North America, the flagship sedan is actually the Avalon. Land Cruiser for SUV's (worldwide).
For Lexus, LX for SUV's, LS for sedans, LC for coupes.

Halo product would indicate something as a showcase, an image car. Best product, over the top product, limited edition product, etc. the LFA was a showcase car, the LC is also a showcase car, I think the LS sort of fits that bill too before the LC came along. Halo is something the car manufacturers want you to think of and want you to desire when you think of that company.

They're not quite the same, but they can be representative of the same product.

I think if the Supra came out the same way the GTR came out, it could have become a Halo product. As it is, its like a 370Z, a revival of a nameplate but nothing that makes you go wow.

Understood. Did Toyota (U.S.) ever have a "halo" car? not including Lexus. If we're not in the Supercar game, never have, wouldn't the Supra mk4 be it? and would a GRMN version of the MKV be it if that came out?

The 90s MK4 was higher upmarket than the current MKV, and had 320HP.
The 90s Acura NSX was only like 252HP. Wasn't that considered a "halo" car for Acura? While the Legend was the flagship.

I don't know. I wouldn't consider anything else Toyota has in the U.S. as a Halo car then.

In fact, RSP MKIVs were one of the most coveted Supras. It looks really good in the light.
The blue is great. thought about it a lot and decided black better fits the car. more timeless. Blue to me is more "fun", like my Oceanic Blue FR-S. Black for the MKV is more timeless, can be made more "aggressive" or "sleek".

Its a flagship sports car in Toyota's lineup of 2 sports cars.....

The Nissan GTR is probably Nissan's halo car.
The Acura NSX is probably Acura's halo car.
The Lexus LFA was Lexus' halo car...but I think its the LC now.
I wouldn't put the Supra in the same class as those. GTR comes close because it used to be compete with the Supra but its a tier higher now.

Toyota's? I think it used to be the 2000GT...but nothing succeeded it.
Maybe its the Toyota Century...…..or Crown...but those are Japan only and fairly obscure outside of Japan.
I don't really know what Toyota's Halo car is.....
Thank you for paying attention to what I said and the context of how I was saying it.

...and that blue looks really good with the dark and light transitions. I also hate yellow cars, but can't get over how good the supra looks in it.

Now that I've had some rime with the car, I gotta say, it drives amazingly. It handles Charlotte's crappy roads with ease, and always has power when I wanted it. Compared to my 86, it accelerates surprisingly fast. I put my foot down, and was going well over the speed limit on the highway before I even realized I was.
