It can tow a boat?!?!

On a trailer yes. 2700 pound tow capacity. Boat and trailer weigh in at about 2000 pounds. Loads of safety margin.

Mrs. Ultra just called to tell me about it. She was totally disappointed when I said "Yeah, I know, right?"

I could practically hear her deflate.

Don't buy an outback unless you have already looked at a Regal TourX. Extremely discounted, longer warranty, better looking.

If you had bought the better version Impreza than you'd have had no problems either.
Rated at 300 h.p. with Bembos and heavy duty everything I was able to tow two motorcycles and loads of gear and tools and more through the mountains to N.C. each fall for the wife and I to ride.

Likely our Forester and our FRS are our last Subarus. We may or may not hold onto the Forester, but parts are failing, like the suspension and brakes. I will likely keep the FRS for a long time. However, I look at the Impreza and just shrug. The Ascent is unimpressive. I just don't see anything I want. I wouldn't kick an STI out of bed, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get in bed with one.
