That's some healthy rollout they're giving the 2.0T apparently.

Exactly. I'm surprised so many people are quoting the 0-60 time as if it matters. What 0-60 time would it take for me to buy a Genesis Coupe? None, because I don't want a Genesis Coupe. I want a lighter, sharper, more focused car.

$23,100
2.0L 274 hp, 275 lb-ft turbocharged I4
RWD
3,362 lb
0 - 60 MPH: 4.8 sec
Fuel economy 24 MPG
LED headlights and taillights.

Guess what car is it? Genesis coupe 2.0.

If the BRZ price come sooner I may not have more second thought but after putting down my deposit and waited so long, it's giving me a lot of 2nd thoughts.
Nice try, Hyundai of America PR guy.

More like this..

2013 Base Models
$24,250 or $28,250
274-hp, 2.0L Turbo I4 engine or 348-hp 3.8L V6 engine
RWD
3400-3500 lb
0 - 60 MPH: V6 = 5.3 sec
Fuel economy 18-27 MPG

In a straight line this will smoke the FRS/BRZ if both are stock. In a drift the FRS will smoke the Gen Coupe. Change out the front bumper and hood on the genesis coupe and it looks amazing. Still not a huge fan of how the FRS/BRZ looks.

I have my heavy ass Supra with 550hp for that....

I agree for someone who wants to auto-X/hit the track 2-3 weekends a month, the GC might be heavier than what you want. But for a fun DD, I don't see the issue. The weight fits right inline with its competitors if not a bit lighter than them by ~200-300 pounds (Mustang V6, Camaro V6, G37, Challenger...etc.). Not really in the same class as the BRZ performance/design wise, but it is price wise. For the segment the car is designed for, it really isn't overweight (GT type car). Sure it would be awesome if it was closer to 3000 lbs even. But that would require lighter weight materials which are more $$$. I think Hyundai has done a great job balancing cost and performance.

The next redesign for the coupe in '16/'17 will hopefully shed some weight and use its own chassis.

You know Zgrinch, I thought the same when I first saw it. But the looks have grown on me. I finally saw one this weekend in black and it looks very nice in person. I wouldn't totally cast it off by looks. But with most things, it is up to personal preference. Just might not be your thing, and that is ok.

Depends if the OP needs a back seat to fit a little person (i.e. a child). 370Z is a great car, but not the most practical if it is your only car. The GC at least gives you the sporty coupe, but still makes it somewhat useable on a daily basis.

For me, I actually like the new '13 GC over the old GC. The new one looks worlds better to me. Now looking back at the old one, it looks too much like a Tiburon to me. I like the more aggressive looks of the '13. YMMV.

Some people just don't get it about the GT86/FR-S or BRZ. It is a true concept car. There are reasons why it is, the way it is. Mr. Toyoda and Tada San know about cars, and they had certain concepts and criteria that this car was going to be about. If you don't like these concepts, go buy something else.

I'm waiting for my FR-S!!

Looks quite capable to me. Not sure what you mean by it leaning like a sailboat or the exhaust sounding like "crap." If you want to track, just get the R-Spec or the track package.

That new '13 GC 3.8 exhaust is heavenly for a stock exhaust. Have you heard it yet? Guess you don't like good sounding exhausts.

The new manual transmission is worlds better than the old GC. Much better improvement, but it isn't completely refined. So I agree it isn't 100%.

Why wouldn't you? Just call ahead and say you want a long test drive. Never had any problems.

Test drove the 2013 2.0T Genesis on Friday (in Everett).

Looks way better in person than in pics. Great car overall, but I did not like the steering feel. Felt disconnected from the road.

Great car for those looking for more power, but it was not for me.

I have age-ism problems in regard to test drives.

That's why you call ahead first. It shows you're serious. Or gives the appearance, anyway.

Going to dealers outside of town helps too.

Totally different car of course, but I had a Hyundai Elantra rental car last month and the steering was awful. I'm pretty sure it had electric power steering, and it felt completely disconnected. I don't expect an Elantra to feel like a Porsche, but it was BAD. The rest of the car was kind of nice, but I can see how the steering could be a deal breaker. Seems to be a Hyundai thing.

The Genesis do have that disconnected feel, but it does make it up by the low end torque at least for the 3.8 models. The 2.0T stock feels likes a totally different car after a good tune/reflash.

The only problem I had with the genesis coupe steering is that it felt kind of light/numb on center while driving on the highway at 85+ mph. But other than that it turns corners with great feel from the steering which matters more to me.
