Final Drive + LSD

Any first hand experience here? I've been reading up on them, trying to justify if they are worth it, for example 1.5 way Cusco/OSG + 4.875 FD. What cost am I looking at here, from start to finish, parts and labour? Any reputable shops in GTA with experience for installation?

Thanks

I am running 4.88 with Cusco LSD in my automatic FRS. This was the 1st two mods I did to the car. Really been happy with the set up.

It depends of what you want to achieve. If you have an AT car, it makes sense because the transmission is coming from Lexus and the gears are unreasonable long for a sports car. It is clear that this transmission was focused mainly for a highway cruiser. If you have an MT car it will give more advantage in low speeds, but it doesn't mean you will be faster in all scenarios. In other cases you'll be slower. Just to give you an example. I am following the track build of Japan's fastest NA car. They are doing this for decades and they want now to get back the track record on street tires. In a particular straight the gearing is too short and they hit the rev limiter. They have to shift to higher gear which loses time. This is happening on a S2k car. They consider now to switch the final drive from 4.3 to 4.1 or even 3.9! So, going to a 4.875 fd is not always better.

Nothing wrong with the stock Lsd, save cash and just buy a ring and pinion and barings etc.
Weir Performance has a good rebuild kit/ final drive price compared to Cusco or Mfactory.

Is the OS Given LSD compatible with the Auto factory/Revolution 4.8 FD?

Any recommended installer in GTA? How much labour should I be expecting?

Cyrious garage works put a friends shorter final drive together for him, but he removed the pumpkin from the car and re-installed it. If you're looking at total labor cost I'd add another couple hours to be safe. I'd bet it's about a day of labor to remove from the car, take apart, reassemble and then put it back in the car. Just a wild guess though.

Any FD compatible with the stock diff will work with any diff that's compatible with the stock FD, so you should be totally fine with that combination.
