I believe my buddy @jawn already answered this for me. I know I didn't cite my sources, but the search button on this forum is of help too.

Do you have any sources to back up your claims?
I would guess the cause of his perception is that the BRZ has stiffer suspension, possibly providing the feel of a more responsive steering.

if you're going to modd it, buying new one is pointless.
gonna stay with stock? then buy it new.

if i am OP, i would just buy after lease is up to save money.

I read that entire post and it is full of a lot of speculation and zero spec sheets as valid proof of any improvements. If you want suspension improvements we have hundreds of better aftermarket options than anything stock.

When I stated CITE sources I meant anything from the Manufacture or a Tune magazine review anything substantiating the claims of better suspension in the later models. So far nothing has been proven. Changing who makes parts mid cycle on a car in most cases is related to internal cost cutting measures than anything else.

Enjoy your cars!

Hearing a guy on the internet that purchase x from user Y and put it on his BR Z doesn't equate to better suspension. Most likely he is experiencing a condition of trying to defend his purchase, which we all do. It is how we as humans behave... Not being a ****... I just want concrete evidence of statements like "The 2015/2016 have suspension improvements leading to better handling", really anything that is tangible evidence would be appreciated.

Enjoy your cars!

He said he went from a '15 FR-S to a '16 BRZ. From '15 onward, both vehicles have EXACTLY the same suspension tuning, so this is untrue.

How about an official press release?

http://www.autoblog.com/2014/05/29/2...blue-official/
http://media.subaru.com/pressrelease...al-edition-brz

As a side note, I didn't say they were better than aftermarket options. I just said that they are in fact different. They've been marketed as improved; I've said that they were revised and some found them to be more comfortable.

Obviously, if you want to just improve your dampers, you can easily just pick up a set of Bilsteins and call it a day.

Questions .. Are the differences between the 2015 and 2016 worth it. Is the new radio much better? (also whats a good aftermarket radio to get?)

Thanks for any help. in Northeast NJ btw.

He has a 2013 and is considering a '15 or '16. As far as the best value for his money, I haven't seen anyone ask how much money he has paid on the car over the 42 month lease period. What is the cost of your monthly payment? It's hard to say with 100% certainty what the best deal is without knowing how much you've already spent, but as others have written, it certainly will make the most financial sense to pay off the '13 and keep it rather than buy something new.

Leases almost always cost more than purchasing a car simply because you pay for a longer period of time when you combine the number of lease payments with the number of payments to pay off the residual, which means more interest to the bank. If you don't keep the car, the lease has the obvious benefit of not being committed for as long a period of time. 42 months is a longer lease these days with 24 and 36 month leases being more common. But most people buy cars on 60-72 month payment plans, so 42 months is still about 2 years less of a commitment. The other advantage of a lease is being able to upgrade at the end of a lease to a model with the latest features. Typically, leases have been a way of being able to obtain a car when you don't have the liquid cash for a down payment or your credit isn't as good - leases usually have higher interest rates than purchases.
Here is a great comparison of leasing vs buying:
http://www.cars101.com/lease.html

Whatever the monthly payment amount is, 42 payments is a lot of $ and he still owes $16K. I ran an appraisal on Edmunds.com for zip code 07470 on a 2013 DGM Limited MT with 23K miles in "average" condition (don't know what options you have and also don't know if the damage would drop it to "rough" condition or if it's extremely minor, maybe the car would be considered "clean"). Edmunds has the car valued at $15,944 for a private party sale; take $1000 off for a trade-in and add $1000 for dealer retail.

Personally, if I could afford it, I would go with the '16. The car is much more "polished" now with better features even though mechanically, it's the same.

and then 500 miles on the new car. Could tell instantly there was a difference. Plus, the BRZ driver seat sits higher off the ground, even with the height adjustment all the way low.

off topic, but what hood is that on your lava?

I did phrase it that way intentionally. The context of that sentence helps.
