Tein Street Flex CO adjustments

Mike today I spent ~ 3 hours in the garage working on the Tein Coil-Overs.
I ended up with 5 3/8" rear height and 5 1/8" front height to bottom of the pinch weld. I had to increase the front and rear spring pre-loads by ~ 5 mm versus the factory settings.

The rake may be a little high but now I know how to adjust ride height and maintain positive pre-load. Attached are some photos of what I used for getting my front side to side adjustments set the same. Roughly 24 mm between the collars and a bottom tube depth of ~ 15 mm.

Tein Street Flex Review!

My calcul of the preload is A - B, the measure from the top of A to the top or B.

Rear Stock preload is 91
Front stock preload is 67

Do you still have any clunk? Because for me that just never disappear... Probably metal pillow ball feeling.

I have started with 10mm of preload all around then I remove it to match the OEM preload without any difference...

When you adjust the height you are not supposed to touch the preload. You just loose the middle ring and turn the bottom ring during this time you hole the top ring to be sure he doesn't move... Then the black cylinder is supposed to turn inside or outside of the green bottom shock part...

Thanks for your help Mike, I have not yet driven the car after my adjustments. I should get it out Tuesday evening with temps in the 60's. DP

Drove the car tonight for about 30 minutes after work. The coil-overs work great but I still get some low speed clunks on rough roads or pulling into my driveway. I will check the ride height and may try a little bit more pre-load on the rear springs. DL

I think you will need to live with it and it's only related to the full metal pillow ball...I have already tried with 10mm of preload and same noise...

Coilovers like ST or KW V1 who use OEM top plate doesn't have any sound problem like this, am pretty sure.

I did find a possible source of the clunking noise, the rear seat was up but not locked into place so it may have been bouncing on the latches as I drove the car. RR corner is still high by 1/8 of an inch so I need to work on that with my co-driver in the cockpit. DP

Lightbulb Sway bar clunking noises

Hey Mike, I may have found the source of my clunking noise. The Whiteline adjustable sway bar end links I have were hitting the strut housing at about 3/4 lock on both sides. I flipped the lower end-link stud around so it enters the inside of the sway bar and shortened the links up quite a bit. The links still touch the strut housing but only at full steering lock. Last night on a 20 minute test drive I never heard one clunk.
