"The Most Disappointing Car You've Ever Driven"

http://jalopnik.com/whats-the-most-d...1647106195/all

The FRS/BRZ shows up a few times in the comments with various comments about torque and steering.

I quite enjoyed the car from the beginning. One of my first impressions was the sharpness and feel of the steering. I understand the cars limitations and drawbacks, but I also recognize that it's not a Porsche or anything of that caliber. It's priced comparably to the Miata.

If this is the case, it is interesting that this car would follow in the footsteps of the AE86 in terms of people not understanding what the car is all about. 信じられねえよ このハチロが。

Maybe it is not such a bad thing to be underestimated.

This is only my opinion... The two most disappointing cars I've driven were only so disappointing because my expectations were so high.

One was the Evo X. I test drove one after owning a IX for a couple of years, and the new generation felt numb, heavy, and very much the opposite of that raw feeling I was spoiled with from the IX. I'm sure it's a very solid performing vehicle, but it let me down the two times I test drove it.

The second most disappointing vehicle was a Ferrari California. I had an opportunity to test drive one from a random invite to the local dealer. I was much younger then, and I expected the car to live up to its 'supercar' brand name... However, it was the complete opposite as well.

On the other hand, I am completely in sync with the FR-S / BRZ... And it all starts and ends with the way it feels and drives. Although I know many people may not appreciate this vehicle and it may be a disappointment in certain ways just like the way I felt about the Evo X and California. It's a winner in my book, and that's all I can say.

And you're right, it's not such a bad thing to underestimate this car. It has hidden talents, and not many people will be able to appreciate and understand this.

who care about those idiots opinion? It is a under $30k econo sports car. those guys imaging they were getting a corvette or M3 killer for 1/2 the price, it just not gonna happen. people complain about the power, i am pretty sure that Toyota has answer for that for next supra. If FRS/BRZ is cheap and fast, why would people buy the supra when it comes out? heck, if FRS/BRZ can do 0-60 under 5 second stock with high output, it will be the best value sports car ever!

well, the most disappointing car I've ever owned was my volvo 245 wagon. everything I'd read online about the old RWD volvos was glowing praise, but it was probably one of the least inspiring cars I've ever driven, ever.

people online never really highlight just how gigantic those things are, and that combined with the dana 30 stick axle makes it feel like you're driving a small pickup. I sold that and got a lexus GS300, which feels nimble in comparison.

the BRZ was a little bit disappointing too, though. there's all the internet hype about how amazing the chassis is and how toyota designed it and so on and so forth and then you finally start turning wrenches on it and it's like "nope, it's totally just an impreza under here. god damnit."

Isn't Jalopnik the site that spawned the phrase "The answer is always Miata." Surprising there aren't more comments about the Miata in there, as it's even slower than the Twins.

For me, the most disappointing cars I've driven are:
- 2014 Mustang V6 auto (awful seating position, size/weight, steering feel, slushbox)
- 2014 Mazda CX-5 (magazines love the handling, but seems pointless in an otherwise harsh/noisy/underpowered SUV)
- 2009 Chevy HHR (awful everything)

And the most surprisingly good cars I've driven are:
- 2010 Mazda 2 (feedback/handling far exceeding its price)
- 2014 Mazda 6 (nice interior, drivetrain, etc. - total package)
- 2013 FR-S (wasn't expecting it to be this good, especially just after driving a Cayman S)
- 2005 Mini Cooper S (really fun car to drive, way better than my GTI actually)
- 2013 Evo X GSR (having owned an STI hatch, I didn't expect the Evo X to be that much sharper but it was)
- 2006 Evo IX MR (this was my first time driving an Evo, and pushing it hard in the rain was a revelation)

So I have not driven a ton of sports cars but I can say without a doubt out of what I have driven:

2013 Mustang GT was the most disappointing by a mile.

I had ridden in many mustangs before but never driven. As a passenger when the driver floored the gas it was a real rush.

For some reason as a driver I did not get the same feeling. Car felt too big and very muted.

I used to own a 99 Taurus. That was my first car. Ford lived up to their name on unreliability with that piece of junk. My lord it had a new problem every week apart of not every couple days. AC didn't work when it was 100+ in Philly in the summer, car broke down at least 10 times in the 8 months I've owned it, engine finally died lmao.

What I will say however... That car so far was one of the most comfortable ones I've ever driven. Felt like clouds.

Definitely the Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg Agera, and Pagani Zonda I test drive before getting my FRS. I was in the market for those and then decided NOT to settle. FRS 4 life. The FRS felt so much better. I mean it's just like the AE86 (that I never drove and didn't know about until the FRS/BRZ came out) which shows I have no idea what I'm talking about and that by the time you finished reading this I've stolen valuable seconds of your life.

Sometimes I wish I would've gotten an automatic V6 Camaro/Mustang/Prius...but the FRS has gotten me too many girls.

2012 Honda Civic. I was looking for just a daily driver and the car had so much damn body roll, the worst steering feel, and the brakes were horrible.

They really did mess up that car.

Didn't drive one of my friends has a Viper in his garage which we took to go out for the night, but omg is that thing horrible inside and not fun for anything but the track. Yes no nannies/assist is fun but it really isn't when you're just trying to have a "little" fun not "a lot" of trouble. But that's also not the purpose of the car.

So far for me the 370z, I hope it was just because it was a soft touring model. I've always driven/had old 240z/280zx that were pretty heavily modified, so I was used to tight nimble cars that were a blast to drive. The 370 was everything these weren't. It was a good car, just not as good as I had always hoped it would be. Not to mention the straight six was downright sexy sounding compared to the vacuum cleaner vq engine sound.

People are actually commenting that our steering is disappointing? Our steering is phenomenal!

For me, my most boring car was Tercel. But since I expected it to be boring, it wasn't a disappointment. The most disappointing car was a mustang v6 auto. Looks fast! Isn't.

The most exciting was a 911 GT3RS. I was afraid to sneeze, because I felt like if I gave the car anything less than 100% focus, I would die. It was a blast though.

Most disappointing for me is a toss up between a 2014 V6 Mustang (Auto) I had as a rental for a month after I wrecked my GTI, and a 2014 Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec.

I had high hopes for the Genesis, despite hearing about the transmission issues, and the fact that it's a larger car, but I sat down and went for a test drive anyways.
With the package including the sport tuned suspension and Brembos, I thought it would at least give me a fun ride, but coming from my MKV hatch, it felt so big and sloppy. Brakes had to be stomped on to slow down in any sort of panic stop situation (I was sort of biased at the time, since my car had Hawk HP+ pads all around)
Even so, there was so much body roll, and the power delivery from the turbo was flaccid, since I can't think of a better term to describe it with.
The sound generator pipe would drone, the clutch pedal wasn't consistent, and trying to shift quickly or rev match to downshift just wasn't going to happen, since it would grind and lock you out of gear.
I really wanted to like the car, since it was what I was going to buy instead of the BRZ, but it's not a car I would enjoy driving every day. Beautiful on the outside, and I can't help but stare when I see one pass by, but I know that, at the end of the day, I'm much happier with my slower and smaller (but more fun to drive) BRZ.
