The weather weirdness here is strong. 2 weeks of maple tree buds all over the FR-S,now a early dusting of pollen. Chance of snow tomorrow and below freezing temps next week.
Today it'll be 67,I'm washing the car.

the pollen here in south east texas is insane. totally covers the car every night. on the other hand i grew up in iowa and don't miss the snow and cold. i remember a frozen locking gas cap that i had to take to an all night u wash it car wash because i was afraid of using a cigarette lighter on the key. i'll take the pollen over the ice and snow.

Yea, an "Extremely High" pollen count is considered 1500+ for trees. Atlanta has seen measurements as high as 10,000. This will be a particularly bad year because we've had a mild (even for us) winter.

Ha! Not exactly but it is for a different but similar reason.

The area was settled during the Georgia gold rush and named for the seven springs in the city limits. The water in the springs had a very high mineral content that turned the ground around them into a black sand that looked like gunpowder. Originally it was called "Gunpowder Springs", then changed to Springville, and back to Powder Springs.

Probably more than you than you wanted to know, but I always find the way things get named interesting.

Ya, the British that settled my city had no imagination at all.
"Oh let's just call it London. OH and there is a river running through the center so it will be called the Thames"

Lived there when I went to college (2x Fanshawe Alumni here) I always thought it was a bit funny.

I got a dent on my hood within a week of picking it up off the lot, it's pretty minor, but you can notice it if you look at it just right.. Honestly it was the best thing that could happen. Was like "Well shit, there's the first damage, guess I can relax now". Still there, as a reminder not to take it too seriously, not saying I don't look after my car, but if you let all the little things bother you, you'll never end up just enjoying the car in my opinion.

its may be rational if you own a display car made for SEMA
but if like in my case its a daily drive , yeah , its irrational. I stopped worrying about scratches once i touched the lower end of the front bumper while entering the gas station of the second week of ownership.
I do some cleaning once a month with pressure washer and wax it every 5-7 months, it gets the job done to have a dedcent look and keeps me happy.

I don't think it's irrational at all. You work for your money and you have every right to be protective of your belongings that you purchase and work for.

Now, I think it's irrational to expect a car to stay in showroom like condition when you're daily driving it. Minor swirl marks or light rock chips are bound to happen. However, scuffs and dents from careless people who don't respect your vehicle doesn't fall into that category.

I just hit 20k miles on my STI earlier this month and it's very well kept, but not in perfect condition. Small paint chips on the front and some light swirl marks here and there. Do I care? Not really, because they all happened from driving and enjoying the vehicle.

I look at it like if I ever totaled the vehicle. **Assuming I have track day insurance** I'd much rather crash my vehicle on the track, than have some texting ****head plow into me at an intersection from not paying attention. If my car is totaled, I want to have a cool story (and hopefully some footage) of me pushing really hard and then losing it just enough to crash lol. Much cooler than my friends asking me what happened to my car and I have to tell them I got hit by a texting driver.
