The TSB was in October 2016 you don't have the new pump if you hear chirps. The look of the pump has changed also. Go back

You have a subaru, not a Toyota LOL jk.

So your VIN falls into the applicability of having the fuel pump swapped, correct?

If so, that means you have the old pump, not the new one.

But the Tsb is a Toyota one, not a subaru one so I'm not sure how that works out.

Subaru has a TSB also. They are the same car, just serviced by two different manufacturers.

Had the fuel pump for a bit over a week, couple hundred miles, warmer weather, no chirps yet. Stay tuned.

Getting a new pump on Thursday, hoping it fixes the chirps. Seeming like its possible based on the replies in this thread.

I can't get my fuel pump to start chirping again, so I haven't been able to do this yet. Knowing my dealership, they'll refuse to do it unless it's happening right then. It'll probably start chirping again as soon as the warranty expires. lol

Mine won't do it unless it is over 70 degrees out and I put certain fuels in. Once it gets hotter you should be able to make it chirp.
Never thought we would be trying to make the damned things noisy.

Meh, if this new pump actually runs quietly I may just grab one off of a salvage engine in a few years.

Or not.

I will never change it unless it fails. I don't fix what ain't broke for the sake of a noise I can control by not buying certain fuels.

Sucks in Ca there is no 93 octane and anything higher than 91 is very hard to come by. Mine does the same thing, if its warm out she chirps at idle. I agree don't fix what isn't broken. Sure the noise isn't ideal but I think it adds character and doesn't seem to impact performance or reliability.

Mine was chirping even with 93 in it. It wasn't nearly as loud as some of them out there, but with having the warranty, figured it was worth getting replaced anyways. Worst comes to worst and it still has the crickets, but I got a new HPFP and work done under warranty instead of paying the cost of it. Tech said just the fuel pump was $600 + all the other parts + labor.

The TSBs do say that it does not impact the performance of the fuel system, just a cosmetic thing.

I've noticed that fuel from different suppliers (same octane) makes a difference to frequency and intensity of chirping.

Yep. They may all have the same octane but the levels of ethanol can vary. If you read the stickers on the pumps (at least here) it says "may contain up to 10% ethanol". I have no clue what the trigger level is but have no doubt that someplace in that range is the concentration that causes chirps at just the right temperature. If cool out I can use whatever I want with no noise but when over about 70 degrees then there are a couple of brands that are 100% guaranteed to wake the little guys up.

Funny thing is when I run E85 the crickets go away. If I run E10, especially in summer, they usually come right back. My best guess is E85 has extra lubricants that E10 doesn't
