So I wanted to give a little update since I'm running the Cosworth Stage 1.3 set up.

I have their exhaust manifold, but the rest is other brands. Compared to when I was supercharged, I'm really digging running the car NA. It runs smooth, I haven't had any issues/ CEL, and when looking at AFR, and such, it isn't running too lean or rich. So I'm happy there. I've had this set up for nearly a year now and love it!

So, yeah, just wanted to put my thoughts out on their Stage 1 set up (since it's nonexistent now).

Did you have the HKS header when you had your supercharger? I am debating if I need a header. I really want to get the tune right as the knock really annoys me now.

I was using the Nameless Performance header when I had it.
I think the HKS would perform fine. I know a lot of people swear by the ACE being the best. And it is. But is it worth the extra money for it? Frankly, I can't find a way to justify it. Alternatively, you could look into JDL's new 4-2-1 header they just released. But for price, I think the HKS or Tomei are fine.

I think the overpipe cost should be factored in too if going non-Ace. I wouldn't want to use the stock overpipe with FI.

Oh of course! But just going off something in the moderate price range (Motiv OP & HKS headers (based off of FT86 SpeedFactory pricing)), he would save $763. Granted, that's priced against the A350 @ $1700. I know that is a very superficial comparison, but if they went that exact route, I don't think there is $700+ worth of gains to be made. That cost could go towards track time, tires, or junk food. Just my opinion and research I had previously done.

Mind sharing your current exhaust set-up with the Cosworth SC?
Header = ?
Overpipe =?
Front Pipe =?
Cat-back =?

Thanks!

That's fair. However, I paid ~$1300 for the CS400 in combo with the Ecutek stuff, which chops the $763 savings in half in exchange for more low/mid range and superior workmanship.

Also, the supercharger amplifies the gains from the headers, so that had me leaning more towards Ace.

Just Ace CS400 with stock FP and cat-back.

Not sure that I'll have the car more than another year, but if so I might get the Ace Laguna 90 and do a custom diffuser for it. Really wish it used the stock tip locations.

Take this for what its worth...
I bought a used tomei UEL header (no cat) off a local guy, there are hugh b/s/t pages on FB. Bought it for $400. Bought a catback and overpipe from A1 Top Speed in TX off ebay. Spent less than $500. Quality product, it was the one that had the two rear silencers coming up at angles in the rear with Big tips. Looked awesome especially from the rear with the polished stainless exhaust. Kept my stock mid/front (whatever you want to call it - the one with the second Cat in it) pipe for sound purposes after trying a 200 cell and an offroad pipe. Mine sounded awesome and performed great. No tuning issues.

Thanks buddy! THe new JDL 4-2-1 looks really nice but unfortunately it doesn't have a cat.

If it really requires a header for a proper tune, most likely I will go for a catted equal length as it sounds pretty nice to me.

What did you get? I've got a 2017 and ran into the same issue.

Also, upon fitting the cold air pipe, it seems that it won't line up with the mounting point at the back of the IC core. There doesn't seem to be any room to push it down for the hole to line up, as it'd hit the intake runners. The short end of the 90° is connected down at the throttle body. Could this fastener have been welded on too high?
The GDI driver box also seems to be twisted out away from the engine at the top end by the supplied spacer (20045323); it still bolts up, but seems to be under more stress than it really should be. Any thoughts?

Have you tried pushing the elbow further onto throttle body? That should bring the pipe closer into alignment with the bracket.

The spacer pushes out on the GDI box so that it doesn't hit the injectors. As for the intake tube, are you sure you have your 90 elbow on correctly? My Cosworth logo is facing back towards the firewall but yours is facing toward the front. It's pretty difficult to get that bolt in. Mine's just slightly too high as well. I had to press down pretty hard on the intake tube to get the bolt to line up. If you push the intake tube back a little away from the mounting tab, you can get it to go down a little to get the bolt started.
