Waiting List...

How the hell do I get one of these BRZ's? Did I miss the band-wagon, should I just go for the FR-S?

I feel like it's impossible to get a BRZ by the end of the year. Any suggestions?

Problem is, I can't even find any at any dealerships near me.

They all stated that the earliest they're getting new ones is 6-7 months.

Check out the NE area and have it delivered or drive it home.

Search auto trader and similar sites, there are many listed. Just find the spec you want and call and ask if it is available and the price.

FL by itself is a not a big market for Subaru, so we really do not get a lot of them. Now, a lot of people on the forums have either have the car shipped from other places or flew there and drove it back. Look elsewhere for one (start as closest as possible, GA, SC, NC. If you don't find any, the NE is a great ending point.

Yea new england has plenty and 95 is a prime shipping route so you shouldn't have a problem finding a shipper.

CitySide Subaru has 5 or 6 coming in August, and only 2 of them are claimed or something like that.

Ask for Mike Nelson, I bought mine from him, he was awesome, really nice guy.

I had one on order. Projected date was end of September. I was resolved to wait it out. But, one Saturday morning I was in a foul mood and decided to try my luck elsewhere. First place I called had my exact order be unloaded from the truck 5 minutes before I called. I put down the deposit and flew out to pick it up last Thursday. Drive it 800 miles to get it home. I'm very happy. Even the drive home following break in recommendations was a blast.

I admit I was lucky - but there several others have reported doing the same thing. The NE is full of them (I got mine from PA).

BRZ Allocation

NE had record year last year for WRX and STI so we're slated to receive almost 700 BRZ by year end. Problem is we're not really a RWD market. If you do buy up here, average shipping cost to ship a car out of NE is about 650 as far south as FL last I checked. Enclosed container might cost you more. Or you can take a few days off, pay 300 for a plane ticket, fly up here and drive it home yourself. It'd be a hell of a break-in period for you. By the time, you're home, it'll be ready for the track. Good luck on your search.

Nope...Don't buy it if there is one. It doesn't make any sense to pay any more than MSRP.

For most people paying more than MSRP is the only option if they want a specific car right now. This either means dealer markup, paying for a flight + taking vacation from work to drive it back, arranging to have it delivered for $1500 or so, etc.

Most days, with most cars, even paying MSRP is considered a Bad Deal. It's up to the buyer to decide how much they want to spend and if they would rather wait to get a better price down the line. This is how the market works.

Edit:

Full disclosure: I paid $1k over MSRP after several days of calling (almost) every dealer in the state. Most dealers had none, and those I found were wrong color/options or marked up $5k. In the end I'm ok with the deal, because I have my car, and the last month driving it has been Worth It (imo).
