My car has to go in for the valve spring recall. So that means engine out. Do you think while it's out I ought to pay Toyota to do some preparations for the SC? I was going to get them to replace the spark plugs anyway.. but now I'm wondering if I should get the clutch done, seems some people upgrade the clutch, snout and bearing when they go FI ?
My car has done about 63,000kms / 40,000miles.. clutch feels fine. Is the stock clutch setup not up to the task? |

But yeah I did read your build which got me thinking about it. Just so happens I haven't done the valve spring recall yet, been putting it off. But it would make sense while the motor was out to get them to do some stuff. Although I am weary of these sorts of projects getting carried away cost wise.. New plugs. Maybe get them to clean the injectors?? |

@HachirocksU ...What's your goals? How much power do you want? E85 or pump gas? Depending on your goals, it may make sense to do FI then save for a build, but generally it is best to do a build first or save to do them at the same time.
@tzbang ...Yea, costs can build fast, but things are definitely cheaper when they are apart. Be sure to get a quote because they might charge you a computer calculated rate, regardless of how easy it would be to change the plugs with the engine already out. If the computer says the job takes 4.5 hours then they charge you for 4.5 hours, even if it takes 1 hour or 7 hours. I don't know about clean the injectors, but servicing the DI seals might be an option if you wanted them to make the motor tip top.

For California(SOCAL) option i'm limited with a tune w/o headers or go with a carb legal kit which I am content with those hp range. My goal is to improve as a driver and improve the tq dip on this car. I was also thinking about doing both at the same time as well but that could be hefty all of a sudden hehe. |

Great to hear that you folks have re-involved with Harrop. It's nice that they keep the trd/stock airbox so it looks oem-ish. Not ready yet but will give you folks a ring when it happens. |

Pulling the engine, opening it, doing rods, and then re-installing the engine will cost you more than the supercharger. Don't fall into the trap of unnecessary mods. Invest it in a good oil cooler instead. |

Is an upgraded clutch, TOB, fork, snout and oil-cooler all recommended or considered necessary when going FI ?
