Angry 320hp brz still gets smoked by 320 wrx and lancers

Is it the high compression of the fa20 turboed engines or what? Lancers and stis keep smoking me. Should I save for a built lower compressed engine? Change my gear lengths?

AWD vs RWD. No matter what you do, AWD traction will always win. Maybe you don't have enough torque. I don't think lowering your compression ratio alone will do anything positive.

That, and if you want to go fast, you bought the wrong car.

I will beg to differ.
Of the top 15 lap times on the Nürburgring only 3 are AWD and the rest are RWD. SO what was that again?

AND if all you care about is drag racing, how can AWD possibly be an advantage?
In fact in street drag racing AWD is a disadvantage (that is unless your car can somehow hold the front wheels down under hard acceleration).

Really not comparing apples to apples. Power to weight ratio should matter here, so your numbers are probably not as equal as you think... If you have more power and less weight, you shouldn't get "smoked" so there is something wrong with your assumptions... This is a simple math equation...

I smoke Stis and lancers every day. The secret is to be sideways on a double-shot of NoS.

I'm not sure what the circumstances are and what type of racing you might be doing, but here are a few of my opinions based on this info:

Traction. "Spinnin ain't winnin" always holds true.

Usable powerband > peaky powerbands. There are quite a few variables that could go into this, but a linear, more usable powerband will almost always win over a dyno queen. This could possibly be the case in this instance.

Have you checked for boost leaks?

More importantly, driver mod. Experience can always go a long way

I agree. If you have a 320 hp evo X that weighs 3500 lbs, and a 320 hp BRZ that weighs 2700 lbs, and you street race (drag race), then the BRZ should win every time. AWD vs RWD should not matter unless the BRZ has stock rear tires.

So it can only mean one of a few things:
the BRZ has less than 320 hp
the EVO has more than 320 hp
EVO has been striped down to race weight
BRZ's trunk is full of dead bodies
BRZ has shit for tires

Just get a Challenger Hellcat if you are straight line racing. Then you won't have issues with Evo or WRX. This is not the car to smoke people in unless it's a race course.

I don't think they were racing on the 'ring so that point is kinda silly.

AWD gives you a huge advantage in a street race. Traction is king on high power light weight cars.

I think you're trolling me. I really hope you are. Really, really hope you are.

Torque

My friends making 320whp but 350wtq in his STI
How much torque does a 300-320whp BRZ/FRS put down?

Not "Silly" at all.

I would like to you to explain how a AWD car can be faster in a street race (DRAG race).
What? does the EVO have a magical wing on the front that has downforce at 0 MPH?
If AWD makes a car faster then that explains why F1 cars are AWD right?

Maybe if you are drag racing backwards.....

I think the point was that AWD will minimilize/mitigate wheel spin off the line, allowing for quicker acceleration. The comparable RWD car may have moderate to significant wheel spin depending on the driver which would be a disadvantage. There are a lot of factors that come into play though: tires, suspension setup, gear ratios...but that would be true for both cars.

For street cars though with street tires from a dig, I would bet on the AWD...unless their racing for miles to top speed, in which case the BRZ may out run the EVO/STi in top end acceleration. I used to have a 2G Talon Tsi/AWD and with comparable horsepower cars (FWD and RWD), from a dig I would be several car lengths ahead before they caught traction.
