FRS aftermarket head unit installation - wiring

I apologize in advance if already talked about, but I r search not grood.

Imo bespoke is overpriced and going aftermarket, already have a couple in mind, but open to some suggestions as long as it doesnt thread jack.

What I really want to know is the about wiring up an aftermarket head unit. I maybe jumping the gun, but any plug up harnesses work or maybe a universal type? I really want to avoid any hard wiring/cutting this early.

I would just hold off till they come out with a kit for the wiring harness to aftermarket head unit. Def dont do any mess with any hard wiring or cutting. You dont wanna take the chance of messing anything up.

I'm planning to install a new headunit in the next couple of days. I pulled out the factory headunit. It looks like the harness is a regular toyota one on the left. All the way to the right looks like the antenna plug. Is this a subaru antenna?

Heres a pic of the antenna male plug. There's 2 identical plug. On the left was plugged into the head unit and both ones I'm holding was not used by the factory headunit.

I installed a new head unit already. I used the regular toyota harness and it worked just fine. Be sure to hook up the remote/power antenna wire because it turns on the amplifier in the trunk that runs the door speakers. I forgot to hook this wire up and the stereo sounded horrible.

The antenna adaptor is for 02+ Lexus. The exact model I used was Scosche LSAAB.

The dash kit is a different story. I used the Metra dash kit for a Scion TC, but I had to modify it quite a bit. I just used a dremel tool to trim the kit until it fit on the FR-S bracket. It works quite well now.

It is just a blue wire on the toyota harness and it should be labeled "power antenna". Hook it to the blue wire with the white stripe coming out of an aftermarket that should be labels "remote".

I don't know why the lexus harness had 2 plugs, but I only used 1.

Hi, I would like to pull my radio out of my FRS and was wondering if I may ask for the correct way to do it as not to destroy anything? Do I need any special tools? Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure those RCAs are for the Subwoofer pre-out.

To remove your headunit, try this:

Using a pry tool (I like plastic ones), pull the bottom slightly out

Now, the hard part is carefully wiggling the panel straight out from the radio. There are 4 clips: 2 on top, 2 on bottom. It's hard to get pry tools in the top, so be patient. Try and pull out, but firmly. DO NOT pull on an angle!!

Once the panel is removed, you'll see this:

You should know what to do from this point on.

EDIT: sorry should have said does the stock voice command run through the head unit or will you have to use a separate mic for that?
