Thanks @twincamRob I used this method to install mine last night and took all of 3 minutes. I did not even have to take off the under panel, and I also feel like you could lift the rear of the transmission with your hand and insert the bushing, so I was not too worried about the stress on the exhaust bracket.

Also, your last 2 pictures do not seem to be working, just a heads up

This will fill in the voids of the factory bushing, essentially making the factory bushing stiffer. It is a great alternative to an aftermarket transmission mount for someone who wants to stiffen the mount up a bit.

Thanks,
Rick

ok. I just received confirmed e-mail back from Whiteline and install from front or rear doesn't really matter. hope this helps for many memebers who is going to install bushing.

This is how I did it:
- Drove up a ramp
- removed the undertray
- removed the central nut (17mm with me, not 19mm)
- wedged in the insert from the front and then hammered it in - swing room enough - while simultaneously giving upward pushes to the gearbox by hand. Bit crude but went down nevertheless.
- Refit

The whole thing took me half an hour taking it easy, alone, most time spent reaching for those undertray screws that were obscured by the ramp...

The increase in NVH is quite noticeable on an almost stock car, do like the harder engine note and the whole feel of the mod esp. in high revs.

This is one of the first mods I did on my S4, as I HATE driveline slop under deceleration or in traffic.

I'm not as familiar with the driveline of the 86 though. I know that there are both bushings and mounts, and then this Whiteline kit.

FT86SF has some packages that have both the Whiteline kit and a Perrin trans mount. The mount is aluminum, with almost no deflection allowed. With both of those on (on a DD street car), would the NVH be too crazy? I hate not having a tight driveline, but don't want to shake the mirrors loose either.

Great write up @twincamRob.

I used this method and it took me hardly any time at all.

One thing I forgot to do was grease the bushing before installation. No problem, since it was so easy to put in / take out to begin with. So future users, don't forget to do this!

Anyhoo, thank you sir!

Props to @twincamRob for this.

I installed my bushing yesterday and doing it this way cut my under-car time considerably.

Great writeup! It's an awesome time saver if you're just installing just the 1 bushing.

I used this method and it was great. I think all you really need to do is undo the 17 mm t-bolt, use the OEM jack to push the exhaust hanger up one or two centimeters and insert the new bushing from the passenger side front. Super easy.
Thanks for the post!

Just used this method for the install...I put "Whiteline" facing forward. When I tigthened down the nut on the "T"-bolt the "T" isn't centered in the space. Does that matter?
