2JZ Budget Swap 2.0, Another One
We have acquired a 13 BRZ auto trans shell. What should we do with it? Are you silly, we're still gonna swap it!
Step 1 Acquire Car: Check Step 2 Find an engine. Well, we got lucky on this one, stumbled across a JDM VVti dropout from another shop's customer that went a different route with their Lexus build. Quite the score for $1000 Step 3 Pick a transmission. We've decided the best route to go for a manual in the swap cars is the CD009. Mainly based on price. Here's why> Called around town, found a used, semi high mileage trans from a 2006 for.... $475! Next, you need a CD009 to 2JZ adapter kit, we got an adapter kit for right around $1,000. We'll also need a clutch, shifter, and driveshaft, but we will address this later on. Update, She here! IMG_3117 by Brady Johnson, on Flickr Step 4 Get Some Mounts. Which mounts? How about the brand new prototype Pure Automotive Mount Kit? Sounds good! Stay tuned for more on this... hint hint check out our swapyour86.com facebook page for Black Friday deals...cough cough Step 5 Ready For Insertion (Andy **** from Old School voice) IMG_3098 by Brady Johnson, on Flickr Currently waiting on the trans and parts to arrive, should be any day now! Our game plan with this car is to install every piece of the the swap that we sell, outline these parts and the install, and show you that they do fit and we support them 100% because we have personally installed them all piece by piece. But what if I told you.......... We might sell this car as a complete running car when we are done..... Would anyone be interested? You would get to follow the build all the way through and see every part of it go together and then take it home when we're done. Thoughts? How Low Can We Go???? More Updates Soon! This is so cool. You guys do a great job bringing the price down without compromising quality it seems. Even the Supra guys seem to like running these transmissions.

I have almost finalized our "Complete Kit". It's pretty all inclusive and pricey as a result, but is is 90% of the hard parts needed to drop in and go. I can say it's going to be about $12-13k for the truly complete kit. Interested in being one of the first?

If it would work with the LT4, completely eliminated FR-S can bus, included a AiM display, and a power distribution module to eliminate all the fuses, relays. Keep ac, power windows, power steering. Lol Good build, and I like the kit you developed. Definitely appeals to the masses more than what im needing. I enjoy reading your swap threads. Keep it up! |

How is the engine tuned? Will the swap retain all factory functionality? Seamless swaps interest me. Just wondering what sacrificies are made for something like this.

if you really want, you can reduce the price dramatically by going with ecu master, haltech or others with obd2 capability, display the info on a tablet for a gauge cluster and then you're able to remove abs module, since you'll have speed through the ecu and coolant temp, boost, afr, tach,... you can even wire up the sending unit as an input for fuel level.
This will be the direction I'll be leaning towards |
