It looks like body damage, broken upper/lower rear control arms, bent front lower control arm, rear toe links, etc. Hard to say whether or not the frame was actually damaged or not without getting it up on a rack and measuring though. Without seeing it in person, it looks like the majority of the forces were absorbed by the bending/breaking of the arms.

Well, I'm no expert .... but what @cnk says sounds good. It's my understanding that the FR-S doesn't have a "frame" in the classic sense. It has more of a unibody construction. From this diagram, you can pretty much figure out which parts of the unibody (frame) are messed up. humfrz |

No way to tell from your pictures if there are no references with tape measure or some other reference. As an example, there looks to be subframe damage, but you can't determine if the subframe is compressed or not. If it is and the mounting bushing/location isn't compromised, your frame is fucked. Take it to a body shop and figure it out. Don't half-ass this repair. -alex |

Looks like you just need a little rear toe adjustment and you're good to go.

It's in the body shop's best interest to: 1) find out as much damage as possible 2) fix for as long as the insurance company is willing to pay for It's in the insurance company's best interest to: 1) put car back to "prior to accident" condition as much as possible 2) spend as little money on this as possible So... why speculate? Just ask your body shop what the status is and if there is any measurable frame damage. -alex |

That blows man.
I used to sell rebuilt title cars with a dealer that specialized in only rebuilts so I know a little. Technically there are a few answers depending on who you ask. To Carmax, anything that touches and creases the unibody is considered "frame damage". But I would say no. It doesn't appear that the actual structural pieces underneath the bodywork were really damaged. Without seeing it with the skin off I can't tell for sure though. Basically the body shop will cut off that side. Just the bodywork to leave the frame structure exposed, check that for damage, and if its all good, weld on a new skin! Modern bodywork and repair has really advanced to where they can make it look amazing! Sorry for the novel! |
