I've been a huge fan of anything and everything HKS. This will be my first Japanese car and I'll finally get to go big with HKS parts. I'm coming from a 400+ crank HP G8 GT with over 400lbft of torque so I'm already trying to figure out how to get the BRZ's power to weight down lol.

Boost it...

only way to get meaningful gain on a 2liter.

2-4k for bolt ons for maybe 20-40hp gains.

5k+ for FI for 50-150hp.

if i was investing big money into it, i would just swap the engine.
but everyone already knew that...

Yep. This pretty much sums it up.

Compared to just stock, the weight added with a turbo/sc set up would add which would slightly hurt handling would easily be made up from swapping out those junk tires they're putting on from the factory. The car is putting out incredibly impressive handling numbers with them as is. Wheels/Tires alone would probably dramatically increase handling capability.

HKS is one of the few tuning companies from japan that I really trust to make good stuff. :X Interesting what kinda of power the rotrex kit can put down. 250whp would be great. 300whp might even be a bit scary for this car.

the minor weight added vs the huge increase of power/weight ratio would certain make up for it. Tires would also be a huge factor.

With my experience with centrifugal blowers in the past, i wasnt entirely thrilled to see one on the FA20, as it already seems like its going to take some revs to get this motor breathing. BUT finding space to cram a roots blower in there looks to be a bit of a challenge.

More power is more power though... I'd honestly be surprised if it puts down less than 230whp, assuming it makes around 175whp stock

I just want some more information, 250-280 hp is perfect for me, I would dump 2500-3500 for one that is reliable at that level.

I would as well. That power level would be perfect for this car!

he could spend 2k on 260 whp and conservative tune and he should be fine if he doesnt beat it

been reading a few tuner mags when i got my tires changed and they said 250 crank would be possible with a few mods because the tune on the engine when it poops out the factory is very conservative for reliability reasons

Yeah, OK. This 1.6L 20v 4AGE engine makes 160bhp stock, the Rotrex bumped it to 267bhp. That's really "meh".

All I can say is Rotrex =

280bhp or about 10:1 power-to-weight ratio is what I want. I've never driven a centrifugal blower-equipped car and I hear it's not quite as responsive as a roots-style blower but I'm sure it will kick ass nonetheless!

Here's a good video promoting the Rotrex S/C and if Kraftwerks makes a kit in the $32-3500 range, well sorry HK$ but you won't be getting my money:
