Went to the dark side

Sorry guys but traded in the 86 this morning for a new 2018 Mustang Ecoboost leftover. With my bad back I was having extreme difficulty with the harsh ride and the very low seat height in the 86. Took a beating on the trade but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Got a smoking good deal on the Mustang so it balanced out a bit. The new car is a 6 speed Ecoboost Premium with 201A package and Black Accent package. I will miss the cornering ability of the 86 but the ride comfort (or lack thereof) is a faint memory. I will probably be checking in from time to time. See ya guys

Well, good on ya, there Don, @Dadillac -

Your presence here on the forum will be missed -

Yep, sometimes, our body tells us, it's a time for change.

I'll admit that the older I get, the more comfortable mrs humfrz's sedan gets -

How about a picture of your new machine?

Don I hope your new Mustang treats you well, I’m sure it will! The Ecoboost Mustang is a real performer, and I’m sure much more comfortable for you. Keep us updated, I don’t think many of us venture into the Mustang forums. But damn they are bad ass cars.

A pretend Mustang that would destroy the 86, and many other cars. The Ecoboost Mustang is meant to slot under the GT, and it handles pretty good!

LOL I was wondering who would take the bait! The long timers here knew better.

My comment was a tongue in cheek poke at the "Mustangs MUST be V8" crowd that like to slam the ecoboost and don't see how a 'Stang can be powered by anything else.

is there really a significant difference? I just had some seat time in a friend's GT350, I don't recall having an easier time getting in and out. As far as ride comfort, OP did you ever try a normal 86 or BRZ...? TRD SE with the bigger rims and less sidewall was certainly a factor but it is rather interesting that you consider an Ecoboost Mustang to ride that much better..

Sorry about the downgrade. At least you shouldnt have enough power to mow down a crowd! Only one or two pedestrians.

Yeah that smoked eal is the only way to have eal LOL. As far as the back issue I have a degenerative disc in the L4-L5 area. So any waist movement is felt. Most times the pain is minimal. Other times not so much. Those times were very challenging especially during exiting the car. The seat height in the Mustang is probably only like 4 inches higher but that is quite a bit and is way easier on entry and exit.

I took both a GT and an Ecoboost for a test drive. That GT is a bad mother. I had a huge grin on my face during and after that drive. The Ecoboost is not that far off from the GT. It has plenty of power without the pleasing V8 growl. But I allowed my brain to control the purchase and the better fuel mileage and a lot more optional equipment for the same money made the Ecoboost the clear winner.

I noticed on my drive home from the dealer there were no pedestrians present. They must've got the memo that a Mustang was coming
