Review: RCE Yellows on BRZ PP Sachs Dampers

Last week I got the following installed:

@Racecomp Engineering Yellow Springs
Vorshlag Camber Plates (replaced OEM spring perch)

These were installed on my 2017 BRZ with Performance Package, using the OEM Sachs Dampers. (for those of you worried that the top hats for the Sachs might be different, they are exactly the same as previous MY cars)

After leaving the car in the shop for the weekend for the springs to settle, I started driving on Monday and did my best to not change any of my normal habits to really feel the difference. The suspension is noticeably stiffer, going over big bumps is slightly more jarring than before, but not uncomfortable in any way. Total drop is 0.8 inches (the Vorshlag camber plates are designed to match the height of the OEM top hats)

Last night after our DFW 86 meet I started pushing the setup to see how much better it is. There is a roundabout near my house that I can go 45mph around without the back end kicking out on the stock suspension/wheels/tires. After the spring install, I can push that to about 50mph. I have noticed that the car is slightly more neutral, where before it was prone to oversteer. I'm currently running -2.2* of camber in the front and -1.7 in the rear, but am getting rear LCA and a better alignment this weekend to push that to -2.5*front and -2*rear.

I haven't heard the clunking that some of the other RCE spring owners had complained about, even when going over large bumps. Photos of the full setup will be added as soon as I put the LCA on, and more impressions for Track and AutoX use will be posted mid october after my next HPDE at MSR Cresson.

Thanks for the review! Yes camber plates will impact the ride slightly, but there should never be any noise for a properly installed set of springs so that's all good. Have fun at the track and keep us posted!

Thanks, tagged to follow. I'm in a similar situation, with my (hypothetical)move to STX where I would like to keep the Sachs dampers (since I paid the extra money for them) but wanted a little drop and a little better cornering.

Vorshlag is local to me and I've spent a lot of time with their owner at random events. Plus, their documentation for their parts is amazing, they've got all the reasoning of their design choices on their forums. I honestly didn't even consider other options. Since I was getting their camber plates already, they installed the springs for free.

I drove my son's 2017 PP BRZ after the RCE Yellow Springs install this past Friday. Car looks great dropped and the ride was much smoother than the stock springs. He used the stock top hat. I know on other platforms the use of aftermarker chamber plates usually makes the ride stiffer. On my NSX I have KWV3's but even they are made to use the stock tophat or camber plates. I didn't feel any lose of performance either. We both have 2017 PP BRZ's. I'll let Derek post photos and more feedback as he drives it more.

I'm in DFW as well. Did you get the front and rear plate from vorshlag, or just the front? Interested in this set up eventually.

Just the front plates. they don't have a rear plate kit for OEM sized springs.

@jmark Any more recent feedback. I kind of like your son's BRZ PP combo and shocks are up for replacement soon...

Awesome! My yellows are enroute with group-N front strut mounts, whiteline camberbolts/rear subframe inserts & bilstein B6's!

UPDATE February 2018:
After 5 months, 2 track days, and close to 10k miles, they've settled a little bit more and total drop is sitting right at 1". They are fantastic on track, even from the photos on the same turns you can see how much body roll is eliminated. I'm at -2.5* all around for DD and track use. I wholeheartedly recommend these to EVERYONE who has the performance package BRZ.

Does anyone know if the RCE Yellow springs have changed from when they first started selling them to now?

For example, would a set of springs bought early last year be the exact same springs that are being sold new now?
