Probably one of the seals isn't done good in the factory.
My sister had this on her 2009 yaris.
At the dealer they explained that if the robot that applys the sealer runs out of sealer at the end of the run there might be 1 or 2 cm of sealer missing on the car.
In my sisters case this was between the wheel and the firewall, so everytime it rained my sisters car flooded.

thanks for the input. glad im running stock thru the summer so i can make use of the warranty...

gave me an opportunity to name my twin tho, named her "the moisture" because she gets wet when you hit the turns extra hard

Fyi. After market mods will not void warranty unless they are related to ac components failure. Example. Wheels will not void warranty with ac issues.

You and me both brotha. I just washed my car today and turned on the vents for a quick check. I now know why my car has been giving off that smell.

It IS infact because my drain tubes are clogged. My driveway has a big-ass tree next to it. No wouldn't doubt some leaves and debris got into the system and is now blocking off the hole. If the water does not drain properly from your hvac system, you will get that smell again.

Water can either various ways:
-using your A/C which creates the condensation
-washing your car and having water spill into the black plastic thing around your wipers (cowl screen)
-rain.

I went under the car to suck out all the water from the drain tube with a vacuum, and then blew out all what ever was clogging the drain tube with the air pressure tank.. Within about 30 seconds, the smell disappeared.

The bad news is... If I want to permanantly get rid of the smell.. I'll need to clean out the debris or get a new hvac.

Does anyone know if this would be covered under warranty? Or will they charge me up the butt? I would hate to have to blow out the clog each and every time.

Yeah man.. I'll be driving 2 hours north to the nearest dealership for this on Friday. It REALLY kills the experience of this car. The weather lately has been nice enough for some ac off + windows down driving though. But first sight of rain or water in the air intake =

Usually, if I run the AC on cold for a little bit it goes away. However, this morning it is now the worst it has ever been AND I can't remove it no matter how long I run the fan.

*sigh*

What to do? The nearest dealership is 2 hrs away, so is there anything I can try myself instead?

How easy is it to access the evaporator in this car? You would need a good view of the fins etc...I'm wondering if you could get some coil cleaner on the fins(commercial grade)http://www.johnstonesupply.com/store...ep?pID=B81-133 this is what I've used inside homes..of course it's not the best smelling and need to air things out for a while I'd use with caution in a car...just an idea this stuff kills mold and cleans like crazy for evaps for air handlers
