Just a convenient collection of doodads to demonstrate basic functions. Will branch out from there to do more real things.

My grandson can have the multimeter if it's any good.

Ugh I’m in the 86/BRZ withdrawal… or manual withdrawal. Highlander have been nice for a family & hauling big stuff, but driving fun is gone. It’s killing me a bit. Have been looking at another coupe w manual car more recently. But of course, used car market is crazy! So I look at all the possible project cars… and tell myself “where you got the space or funds to finish it?”

The never ending struggle of car geek

I've got a couple of OG pis lying around my place somewhere. Never got around to using them lol.

Or maybe I gave them away? Idk.

That's kind of like saying the cost of used cars are so high because all the auto shop classes in high schools are hoarding them.

Is it possible? yes; likely? no. I don't own any Arduino products but how do you know they don't make their own boards?

Arduino and pi both manufacture their own chips, but they're relatively low volume, and on an older ic platform that's now been consumed by the shortage for other markets.

Was an article about it a while back, the automakers use a lot of chips in the same architecture, and an order for 2 trillion car chips supercedes a 1million chip Arduino/pi order, so they were both having trouble locating manufacturing time

Some of these kits include the main board so they buy them up in speculation on how many they will probably sell. In a tight supply market you can charge more for something (intentionally or not) if you have boards and your competitors don't.

I agree. That's a little different than I took the meaning of your original comment. Companies buy components in bulk... add value... and mark up to the consumer. Radio Shack is a distant memory but at one time they were stocking these parts in over 7,000 retail locations. There have been chip shortages before but the effects weren't felt as far because there was less global-reliance on low capacity chips. Now even toasters are affected.

Curious to see what happens at work tomorrow. We have a zero tolerance policy with drug testing even though it is known quite a few of the guys smoke weed. Well one receiving guy, who is an idiot and should have been fired years ago, backed into an Amazon truck on Friday while pulling in our company rigs to park inside. It's well known he is one to smoke, and he is getting sent in for a UA first thing Tuesday. I'm willing to bet our spinless GM doesn't stand behind company policy and the guy still has a job.

I don't feel sorry for Amazon.
One of their cat herders broke my house using my drive for a turnaround.
