Inexpensive NA power increase; how much?

OK, so we have several shops/companies developing aftermarket items for these cars. Some stuff for street, some for full race.

My *street* oriented question is: What increase in HP can we feasibly expect to acquire with simple bolt on's and *maybe* some tuning. I'm talking keeping costs low (under $2k). I/H/E and maybe some ECU adjustments for these items on a dyno. Maybe 20whp? Maybe More? I would like to have 40 more HP at the crank (match S2k output) while retaining a very "stock" feel (quiet exhaust, retain driveability etc).

My *race* oriented question is: What do you think it will cost to reach a 10:1 weight/HP ratio on a naturally aspirated build? I'm thinking 2500lbs, stripped with cage and 250whp. I have a plan to build one of these for a racing class with a 10:1 rule.

I think your question will be soon answered once shops and tuners get there hands on the car. I think your goal of 250whp is going to cost way more then $2k, i'm almost willing to bet that will be at least double or quadruple your budget.

With my experience the cheapest way to get some decent HP gains is deleting the cats (test pipe), but this is definitely illegal on a street car and you can get in some big trouble, it's not just a fix it ticket

Oh yea, the 250whp doesn't fall into the $2k budget. That's for racing so budget is radically different in that regard.

I don't like the idea of deleting the cats either.

I don't think anyone knows because there hasn't been anyone messing around with the tuning side of the house yet. Seeing as this is a pretty popular car in Japan and probably here too, there will be lots of options soon enough. I think to get to 250whp, you're looking at forced induction or alot of engine work. I hope +20-30whp is obtainable with just bolt-ons and a tune but it's to early to be able to say.
