4 gauge wiring? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So I am going to start installing my Kicker L7 tomorrow with a Kicker IX1000.1, and I am wondering if anyone has had problems using 4 gauge power wire. Will it fit through interior of the cabin?

Fed 0 gauge from the battery, though the firewall to the boot.. you will have no probs with 4 gauge.

Just make sure you add an inline fuse <30cms from the battery

Where would you recommend running the power wire through, underneath the trim on the right side of the car?

And I've seen people run the RCA's and remote wire through the center console , under the passenger seat and finally underneath the rear seat. Would that be any good?

Either left or right side fine for power wire, prop easier to do same side as battery, less cable required.

Dont run audio cables (RCA's and speaker) down the same side as power, that will cause noise gremlins and interference.

Also make sure that you use the same gauge earthing cable as power ie if you have 4AWG power, you need 4AWG earth

I ran power down the side with the battery, Speaker cable down the opposite side and RCA down the middle. Fixed a bit of noise I was getting with the RCA's down the same side as the speakers.

this is a bit late but how the heck did you get the 0 gauge thru the firewall, i cant find the best place to run it and i plan on installing everything tomorrow?

Just a thought, if you don't have RCA outs on your head unit and you have to splice, you might as well tap everything from the back amp and just run the power cable from the front. Less hassle.

Edit: Just realized this thread is older than dirt

REMOVE THE BATTERY and you'll find an absolutely enormous rubber grommet you can run the wire through on the passenger side.

I'm also running 0 gauge.

I just ran 4 gauge through the intake sound tube hole and killed 2 birds with one stone.

^^^i did the same thing ^^^

it fit 0/1 guage perfect. I also covered the wire with black shielding.
being that close to exhaust worried me a little

but works perfect
