Hope this isent a repost.

The 2014 Subaru BRZ takes home top honors in the hotly contested Sports Car segment in the sixth annual ALG awards. These annual awards from ALG are given to the cars that are predicted to hold their value better than any other vehicles in their segment. 2014 Subaru BRZ is the Sports Car ALG has given the honor to again this year. This is the second year in a row BRZ gets the award in the Canadian Residual Value Awards. - See more at: http://www.torquenews.com/1084/2014-....b3p2ztGc.dpuf

The award is based on predicted residual value. Really, they could give the award to a car that hasn't even come our yet (not that they would, but the idea is the same).

Predicted resale value based on what? There's already a slew of '13 ltds on autotrader for ~$24k. I'd be shocked if you couldn't hop into a limited for $12k 3-4 years from now. Sounds like pretty normal depreciation to me.

I bet it'll be one of the top two front-engine rear-drive coupes below $30K.

You're predicting as well. No way to know. I'd wager that they wouldn't drop to $12k in 3 years.

There's not a single BRZ on the used market that I can find here in Calgary at the moment, hopefully that helps me when its resale time down the road.

Agreed.

A good range to hope for is 45% - 50% value after 5 years and "normal" mileage.

The first year depreciation is the worst, and then it tapers a bit for subsequent years. The Edmund's and Kelly Blue Book sites have useful depreciation tables for most cars that are interesting to peruse.

What Subaru can be had for $12k within 3-4 years of it being purchased? Let alone one that retailed for around ~28k new. You must not look at Subaru resale value. I can't imagine the BRZ being any different in the long run, especially considering their limited production and relatively high demand.
