86EXPO 2015 poll

Ok, my fellow 86/BRZ owners, who’s interested in coming to 86EXPO this year, or just wants give their feedback? I want to hear your votes/feedback.

Question 1: Would you rather the event be 1 or 2 days? We were doing it 2 days previously and I think it has been going well... but that doesn't mean everyone feels the same. I cannot please everyone, but I can get some feedback.

Question 2: Do you want autox, track, or both? We have been doing autox for several reasons: 1) It's cheaper, 2) It's easier for some owners who have never autocrossed, yet we can still have it for expert driver too, and 3) We don't have to worry about wrecking (to certain degree) like we might on a track. This year, I am look at tracks & currently looking at 2 locations for the price quote. Both locations can do autox and/or track (price varies on which one).

EDIT: I want to add one extra thing about the Time Attack (thanks to my friend who reminded me about this).
"No more than 2 cars can be on the track less than roughly a mile apart from each other at the same time (basically no one is on the track with you)"

So you won't be doing a bumper to bumper race - even if you're new to track racing, you'll feel safe.

UPDATE: I've made Facebook Group Page for 86EXPO. If you still have some pics or vid from the event. Please tag us and please like us. by going here Facebook 86EXPO Group Page!

So let me hear it.

If you are going to be encouraging people to drive long distances, 2 days is the way to go. Otherwise its not nearly as fun! If last year's had been 1 day, I probably would have elected not to come, at least not all the way from Ohio.

I prefer autox over track, but would love to do both. Tracks also usually mean you have to have to cover insurance for the track as well, and (as I have experienced before) have some type of professional or track official in a pace car, and no *actual* racing. In other words, tracks are cool because you can go faster, but you'll likely just be doing a vigorous parade lap. Also, Being as you are at higher speeds for longer on a track, it tends to wear the tires down quite a bit. When the Cincinnati Region of Scion did their Exposed event a few years back, we ended up getting access to do "vigorous" parade laps at the short track that they had on site. I remember them saying that the pace cars (tC1s, in this case) had to have racing tires put on temporarily, as the stockers they normally were outfitted with would have worn out or been prone to blowouts after just a half hour.

Also, I must have been reading your mind Ichi, I was wondering when you were going to post this, and I did a search, and found out you had just made the thread!

P.S.--Ichi, its "Poll," not "Pole." You can delete this after you fix it, if you want.

I promise, I typed "poll" & not "pole"! Damn autocorrect. This is what happens when you try to work on the forum while you're eating lunch & working from iphone!

Definitely need to be two days to be worth the drive for many. And autox is a definite yes as more people can participate due to lower risk. I for one would love a track set-up like you said as there is less risk being on track by yourself. You would probably get a lot of first timers out there in that setting. Would be great if you could round up some coaches for this as well (either free or at a cost to the drivers wanting one)

Coaches? Hm... good idea, I'll look into it. Thanks for the idea

I am honestly surprised. Maybe more interest in motorsports in the middle here? There are alot of tracks, etc. around this area.

I'll be honest, I didn't check OH area track. BUT I did contact few track ppl listed on the thread.

Renting in general wasn't as bad as I've expected... but event insurance coverage was separate from the quote, that double the price. Some circuit asked $3m coverage (& I did quick check to see how much for $3m coverage)... I just ripped the contract (in the digital way lol)

Current 2 tracks I'm looking at price covers all of it and it's fair price... now thinking bout it, let me double check again. It doesn't hurt to double check. lol
