Got my stock BRZ tuned at Drift Office over the weekend...
Hey guys,
This weekend I went down to Drift Office and got a custom tune for the BRZ. Everything mechanical is completely stock so far and they tuned off pump gas. The shop is awesome, the guys super knowledgeable and overall just a cool place to be. Laid back but they take the time to do it right. Been there a few times even just to chat about different possibilities and everyone's been very helpful and honest. And Paul from AVO let me drive the AVO Turbo FRS last week . On to the tune: Outside of just looking at the numbers, I have to say the tune made a huge different - even more than I thought honestly (have to keep reminding myself: 2700 lbs, 2700 lbs...). I can pull out of corners much more quickly and smoothly now, everything feels more responsive about 4K, and the car seems more alive in the lower rpms (big chunk of the dip was cut out by the tune as you can see). It's just, overall, much more fun to drive. The increase definitely helps with passing at freeway speeds, the power doesn't die down as quickly. And it sounds much better too! Overall, considering a lot of mods out there don't really do anything for a fair amount of $$$, this is great bang for the buck. Only issue is that I'm more tempted to drive, let's say, in a spirited fashion (although, I'm actually getting better MPGs I think.. need more time to average it out more) Here's the 3rd gear pull (stock vs tuned): And the 4th (stock vs tuned): |

Very nice. I'm thinking of going down the same path, and have the same engine mods (none), it's nice to see what I can expect - good things!

I wish I could find a tuner local to me. Live in Phoenix. I'm thinking of going with Visconti. Nice to see what we can expect on stock cars. Thinking I want to wait until I can afford headers/tune though.

Nothing wrong with just a tune. Makes a significant difference even in stock form. Looks good!

Nice. I'm debating getting one. How much did you spend?

Glad you're enjoying it!
Ref : http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25716 It's $300 for the License and $300 for the calibration. From what I've seen here, each car is different even if it's stock so we actually take the 2+ hours to tune for the most optimal gains, and it's dyno proven. Regards! Bob @ Drift-Office, LLC |

Thanks guys! As I said, I'm really happy with it as it is. This is the first step in the over all plans, which is basically do some light suspension stuff, then little by little prep the car (basically headers, exhaust, etc.) for a turbo setup (AVO kit 1.5 or 2.0).
Well, their price comes to a combination of shop hours + EcuTek base license. The license is $300. For the shop/tuning hours you really should talk to Bob @ Drift Office since there's a few possibilities with different price points (pre-order turbo package, just NA tune, etc.). I'll let him clear up that cost. [Well, there you go, Bob beat me to the post. Check out above!] I'll say this: If you look at, say, a Perrin intake at $310 and it gives a claimed 5hp, for less than that (but +EcuTek License cost, remember..) I got upwards to 20HP in some RPMs it's pretty much destroys any other mod for HP gains per dollar cost. |
