Momhawk - Dadhawk, what are you doing out there in the dark?

Dadhawk - looking for light shines.

Momhawk - mumbles to herself, as she goes back into the house - crazy old fool.

I remember how, because the parent organization was also for the special ed kids, there was a stigma attached to being a 'boces kid.' It was our flavor of the short bus. :/

Until I looked it up tonight, the last time I remember using that term was when I was a kid.

God, we could be so mean to each other I shudder thinking of it now.

your idea is much more exciting than reality. reality, it was a christian school. pretty much the same as public school, just a different title, less gangs, less pregnancies, and less smoking out behind the school or in the shop class.

I think that was still a thing when I was in school. For the longest time, I thought that's just where they sent the mentally handicapped kids. It was only when folks I knew started going to BOCES that I figured out it was a trade school.

I don't think I ever called someone a "BOCES kid" though. Mostly I pissed the other children off by pointing out their inadequacy directly.

It's ok, as adults we know better right?
