How badly do you want a BRZ?
I'd like to post this for us to use as ammunition for us to take to the dealers should they decide a "market adjustment" is to be charged on a BRZ. How badly do you want a BRZ? Are you willing to pay extra just to get one this year, or will you wait until the price is right?

I'll wait if I have to, but I really want this car since I've been waiting for like 7 years, that is if only the dealers try to bs me.

The price is where it needs to be. I would not pay over MSRP for anything on principle alone.

I'm already stretching my budget enough paying full sticker on a new car. Anything over MSRP and I'll wait. I throw away enough money on other things! Subaru and Toyota have done a fantastic job in building value for this car; I would not be able to justify spending $30k on any other car right now, but I'm at my limit! I'm already cringing at the thought of selling one of my current cars to afford it.

I want the car, and I've made up my mind this is what I'm getting...I'm just not ready to buy it right now. The price is fine it's just the limited availability I'm worried about. Hopefully closer to the end of the year I'll be able to test drive and order one...with the Subaru BRZ build site up it doesn't look like they are saying it's limited production so hopefully in a few months I can go order one.

I could go either way at this point. Originally I figured I could wing an extra $500 and stretch it a little. Now I'm solid on not a penny over MSRP, and if I have to wait for MSRP then I'll wait to negotiate a lower price instead. Throw the STI trim into the mix this coming year and I'll rather wait for that...
As much as I like the car, I'm not falling for their marketing tricks just to be taken advantage of. It's bad enough we're paying ridiculous "doc fees", we might even be facing markup and region-specific pricing. It makes no sense to me, destination aside, why do we have to pay a different price from folks in different parts of the country "just because"? |

There's no option for "I want the car NOW and I'm paying less than MSRP!"

Sales tax isn't under my control. Paying MSRP (or more) is. I wish I were in a no sales tax state, trust me! But without sales tax that wouldn't mean I'd accept a MSRP+ deal, just because there's no sales tax.

Opt for option #5, you have negotiated a lower price.

OP-
I applaud this idea, however I highly doubt a dealership that has a markup over MSRP would reconsider until supply is more plentiful.... Laws of supply/demand at its finest here |

That's fine. I think this is also to show to other potential buyers that we are collectively not taking any crap, so to speak. Hopefully no one will validate dealers' markup by actually purchasing them over MSRP, and it won't become the popular thing for dealers to do. If sales mgr. from ABC Subaru calls sales mgrs. from DEF, GHI and XYZ Subaru and says "hey, how are your BRZ sales going?" and those mgrs. say "well, we tried selling at $x over MSRP and no one bit" and ABC mgr. then realizes that they won't be able to successfully sell using the same tactic, then we collectively win as buyers.
