So what's the reason why the vvt engines won't work with these? Is it a clearance issue or do they mount differently? Also what other transmission options are there because a getrag seems cost prohibitive for most. It seems most 2jz come auto.

The 2jz is one of my all time favorite engines but...the price seems to be climbing in its old age. But with GM cranking out brand spanking new LS engines everyday their price per HP is getting lower and they have endless transmission options.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I have a non-vvti so it just happened to work out. I was going to go with custom, and I may still depending on fitment.

There's the r154, w58, v160/161.

I have a v160 going in. There will be some coverage, I get in the zone and forget to take pics every time I do something.

A lot of my buddies wanted me to go LS but that's not my style. Props to those who have though! It's not everyday a swapped car comes by, that's only on the net

I think in my transition it will be boost it, blow it up (stock engine) and then drop in an lsx (hopefully an ls7, if cheap enough by that point).

The turbo build thread you have in Member's Journal.
I understand about 2j, I was thinking going that route myself. Who knows maybe in a few years. But since I saw the map performance turbo kit, that will calm the itch to go FI for a while! Hope you get a Supra
