However the Ca-Fi is 1000$, the knockoff is 400$, and the Adayo is 700$ The only advantages the ca-fi has over the other two are the capacitive touch screen and the ability to run Torque. If I had to do it over again, I'd go with the knock off and find a way to hack Torque onto it. I just can't justify 600$ for a capacitive touch screen and hacked app. LOL |

What other head units have you tested? I prefer something android based... Thanks for all the info and input too.

Personally, I've tested the Ca-Fi 621000, Adayo AN6B01, and the Ca-Fi knockoff I posted in that eBay link. I briefly played with one of the cheaper Chinese android head units, but it wasn't mine. I was going to try the Parrot, but it has turned out to be very unimpressive.

How was the Ca-Fi knockoff's touch screen like? You say it's not capacitive (so I figure it's resistive like the Adayo) so I was wondering how was the touch response while on the road.
Oh! And how's the GPS on the knockoff? |

So, both of these being android devices, am i correct in saying that if you didnt like the music player app or the EQ or GPS or whatever, that you could just install a different app from the play store?

I'm still curious about the touchscreen's feel/response on the Ca-Fi wannabe while driving though. |

Its resistive. So its easier to use the tip of your finger nail rather than try to drag your finger across. Although I haven't removed the plastic that came on the screen, so maybe that's it.

The OEM radio I got on my BRZ (euro spec) is straight of the 80's and I am looking forwards to replacing it with a nice Android unit.
Quick question though: is it possible to reuse the USB and audio plugs? @Juanito08 (in this post) says it goes through the harness. Does it mean they'd become useless with an Android unit? |

Hello. New to the forum. Thanks for the review and write up.
Recently installed the Pioneer x2500BT. And while it's a great little unit, doesnt have the Android phone interface functionality it lead me to believe. After reading this thread, I found some units on ebay that were running 4.0, and some units with better specs than what most have been talking about on here. Are they not recommended? WOW - This one was listing for $389 last night when I signed up for this forum: Now it's over $800 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-2-...51175514923%26 And then there's this one.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-2-Din-Ca...ce99a8&vxp=mtr $389 was very appealing.. $800 is a joke. I still need to watch all the videos. If I go this ay, heopfully Amazon will take back my x500BT that I have already installed. |

@EasyEEE,
Check out the double din one that looks like the 800$ one but is only 399 shipped. It doesn't have android 4.0, but you still get the better front fascia. The 389 you posted looks a little suspect to me on the software front. Also with a resistive touch screen, might be difficult to use the navigation (back, home, menu, etc) buttons on the screen. Food for thought. @Guillaume, You can hack the stock USB plug to use with the head unit, but I would just toss the USB plug into the glove box with a USB hub |
