Update on sound from the engine bay. I believe it is coming from one of the idlers. Anyone think why this may be.

Idler noise has my vote, quick test wd40 and see if it changes. Go easy don't douche it....... It wont fix it but it will change to diagnose or if your brave enough get a long rod or screw driver and put it on the bolt and the other end on your ear you will hear it if its a bearing.....

280whp. Who is doing it with the c38 kit on 93? I find it really hard to believe people need e85 to get near that. Most turbo guys are running 300-325 on 93, before having to go e85 for higher power levels.

If I spend 7k to get this kit installed and tuned right... And have 240whp... I'ma lose it.

I run a couple dozen hours at the track a summer, I'm looking for a SC kit because I would like to maintain stock power band like charteristics.

Where did you get 240whp? Obviously dyno's read differently, but percentages will always be the same. a 45%-50% increase is what you can expect. The dyno's on the Jackson Racing website show increase from 186-282. That is also 100% stock, no mods, on the CARB calibration. After HP numbers can only show so much, without the before.

Every dyno reads different.

I dont think you'll be losing it when the turbo guys are going home on a tow truck, and you're not.

For comparison....

Mustang dyno

Dynapack

Same mods, different dyno, different day. Readings are vastly different depending on dyno.

This is E85 with C30.

Ok, so I did determine that the sound was not coming from any of the pulleys. My thought now is that it is coming from the intake, which makes me think it is the Rotrex unit. Can anyone confirm if this is a normal Rotrex sound? Maybe I am just being paranoid.

Ok, but I'm looking for just under 300 whp. 275-280 would make me happy. That's the power I'm looking for. Sure every dyno reads differently, I understand that. Most dynos around here are dyno jets, and mustangs. I know the mustang would read lower.

I'm looking to have this tuned on a dyno, and not use an e tune. Have you seen people with this power range, and do you have an ideal of what's needed to achieve this?

Go get a baseline dyno on your car now and the you'll know.

I don't see how that helps me with my question. I get that would give me a comparison to an extent. I'm probably making 190-200whp now and I would like close to 70-80 more whp. Are you running closer to the 300whp mark? If so, what cocktail did you use to get there with 93?

I'd like a specific power to weight ratio.

You're being told to go get a baseline, because we need to know how your local dyno reads, to understand what your version of "just under 300whp" really is.

If you're talking flywheel horsepower, I can tell you exactly what you need, any time, any day.

I need to know how YOUR chosen dyno reads, to get you to YOUR horsepower goal.

What does that local dyno read for a 100% stock FRS, in 5th gear, with a MT?

A butt dyno usually gives you greater results than the other dynos lol

My last car had well over a hundred pulls on a dyno. I understand what a dyno is.
