Did the inlet tube + filter make a difference in sound or throttle response at all? I want to do these mods to remove the sound generator, but an increase in intake noise would be a nice bonus .

Yeah a little bit. There is a slightly deeper tone from the engine than before, and my butt dyno can confirm a slight improvement in throttle response. It feels a little smoother through the power-band. I would definitely recommend it. I am thinking about buying a K&N filter just to compare to the Perrin. The engine bay looks way cleaner without that clunky sound tube anyway IMO.
