I like the control but the wheel just doesn't match the interior anymore. The simple wheel we have is no nonsense and easy to hold at 9 and 3. This doesn't look comfortable.

Don't worry, it's not just the "I don't have it so mine is better" factor. I wouldn't have the money for the car until the 2017s were coming out anyway, so I was excited to see what would happen and kinda hoping they would just keep it the same, but it was something to look forward to either way. After seeing the bumper, I'm just praying brzs won't be changing their bumper to look like that.
I feel like the one aspect of these cars as far as looks go that attract people is the front bumper. I wonder why they'd make such a drastic change to it.

So I'm guessing we'll most likely start seeing these cars at dealerships in October of this year?

Finally! Those "non-car people" can finally stop asking me what my plate means.

The first gen body lines of the car just flowed better than this new one and I think that will play into the "likeness" factor.

BAM! problem solved. Now solving that new steering wheel and front end will be much more difficult lol

I would throw my money at that or something along the lines of an FR-S/86 and a bump in power output by 25% (250hp) whether it was NA or FI to be a repeat buyer.

Since its now a Toyota and if it can survive on for a 3rd gen there isn't anything to say we won't get different exteriors for different trim levels that would go from this new fascia to a more edgy/race care themed high performance version that could sit below the Supra if and when it comes back.

I really do hope they can get the formula figured out to make the 86 as a whole click into car culture like the Miata and if this kind of fascia is what it takes then great. My boys all love cars so far and open wheel racing so when it comes time for them to learn how to drive I want to place them in a car they can connect with and learn about driving dynamics. If not all I can hope for is to find un modified examples to give them each a clean slate.

I think I like the old front bumper better, at least in photos. It may look better in person. I'll hold off judgement til than.

I personally don't think they did enough to pump up sales of the car with these changes. Between this car and the new MX-5 I think they are just completely missing the mark on power. Giving the car more power does not make it less fun to drive. It would make it more fun and more competitive. There is nothing fun about being slower than most family sedans in a straight line.
1) The MX5 and 86/BRZ are world cars that are niche products. They simply don't move enough to throw a bunch of different drivetrains in them for this price. That is why both of them are 2.0L cars without turbos. It lets them skip the displacement and carbon taxes that they would otherwise see in the ROW.

2) The are not slower than most family sedans in a straight line. Yes, the V6/I4 turbo versions are quicker, but MOST family sedans out there are your standard 170-190hp dragging around 3400lbs. The plain jane versions outsell the hot versions 10 to 1.

3) The only way to really pump up sales on this car is to make it some combination of bigger, cheaper, and/or AWD. I'd take cheaper if we didn't lose the good sports car stuff it already comes with (LSD, aluminum hood, multi-link rear, good seats/steering wheel, good suspension). Bigger or AWD.... fuck that. We already have the WRX, Focus RS, and Golf R if you need a practical AWD car.

Yeah, I told myself I will keep the 86 forever, but the one thing that would make me trade it in would be something like that STI BRZ with a Turbo

Since the new 86 has a mustache ..:hits the blunt: Does that mean the new BRZ will have a beard?
