new clutch

Hey gang, yesterday my throwout bearing moved on to greener pastures, so since I have already paid for the labor of the tranny being opened up I want to go ahead and take this opportunity to upgrade my setup. New clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, pressure bearing, the whole kit really. So I wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions on what kits I should consider, I do a lot of city driving so I am not going full blown like stage 4 or something, but it would be nice to get a set up which could support vortech SC so if I can save the money I could add that kit in the not so distant future. So if you have any input I would love to hear about it, clutch feel, price, quality of the product, any input you guys have would be much appreciated.
thanks!

ACT? I have never heard of anything good from them in the MR2 community. Something always fails. I even replace it when I bought my MR2.

If your car is going to be on daily driving I would just stick to OEM or OE aftermarket clutches.
Exedy in my experience has been good, as well as good rep in the MR2 community.

ACT is what we use in our cars, all 3 of them.

Stay away from Exedy at all costs, can't tell you how many customer complaints we get on those.

ACT kits to go with are the ACT XT Street Kits.

My ACT SB7-XTSS came with the pilot bearing already pressed in the flywheel too. I got it from a Partner that ACT recommend that have it in stock. Hes not a vendor here so I won't post.

SB7-XTSS is rated for 347ft/lbs and its a disc with an extreme pressure plate. I think of it as a mustang v8 heavy clutch not a saturn clutch like factory BRZ/FRS have :P

Specifications:

Part Number:SB7-XTSS
Description:XT/Perf Street Sprung
Torque Capacity (ft/lbs.):347
Torque Capacity Over OE:118%
Flywheel Tooth Count:124
Disc Type:Street Disc
Spline Count:24
Spline Size (in.):1
Disc Diameter (in.):8.8
Disc Diameter (mm.):224
Pressure Plate Type:Xtreme
Product Weight (lbs.):26.2

I had the ACT HDSS in my MR2, but I used an OEM Toyota TOB. haven't had any problems with it for the 2 years I had it until I got rid of it. the horror stories I've heard of ACT on the MR2 was mainly the ACT TOB melting/wearing out prematurely.

Act is awesome for mr2's. Not sure where you guys are getting your info. Always stick to the OEM TOB and you should be fine.

We're making 380WHP and 298TQ on a ACT XT Street kit in our race car. Holding up great and she doesn't see any miles that are not with the peddle to the floor.
