Angry DENT ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR

Someone put a deep dent on my driver's door over the weekend when I was doing grocery shopping in Chicago Chinatown. I think the dent was the cause of the shopping cart free rolling off the slopey parking lot. By the time I finished grocery shopping I walked to my car and saw this, I was not able to catch whoever did this to my car. Man I was devastated...

Do you guys know someone/shops that can do a decent job to repair this? Would paintless dent removal work in this case? The scratch on the dent pretty much removed the base coat down to the primer or bare metal even I think.
I am still debating whether I should get it fixed or not depending on the cost... What do you guys think?
Sigh I will see this dent EVERY time I get into the car.

By the way, would stuff like this covered in car insurance?

Thanks guys

Shit like that is the exact reason why I don't go to the city anymore. I'm sure if you take it to a body shop, especially one in the city, they are probably going to rape you. I pretty sure you can go through your insurance, but you have to ask yourself if it's worth the increase to your premium.

I'm not too sure that there is a simple solution to this. A quick fix is to cover the raw metal with some clear nail polish and/or get a touch up pen from the dealer, just to prevent it from rusting.

it's a dent caused by hitting at an acute angle with quite a bit force

That sucks. Even if a pdr guy could tap out the dent you still have the paint to deal with. I'm guessing a body shop would want at least $400 but it doesn't hurt to ask for a quote.

Are you sure they will rape you? Seems a bit extreme.

Perhaps if the OP dresses down a bit he will be ok?

A good pdr guy can do a glue pull and then a paint touch up.
After a few weeks a good polish can hide the touch up.

Somebody hit and run me in the winter, I forked out the $700 Canadian and just had it done and it looks brand new. Worth spending the extra money for a proper fix.
