Hi guys, in regards to release info, this is it haha! I'm the first one to have the driveshaft installed but they are available for sale. There are no plans for a group buy but there is an intro sale price right now of $425, after that I believe the price is going up to $460 or so. I'm not sure how long Mark plans on running that promotion so I'd say jump on it while you can, I'm very satisfied with the mod and I think you'll be as well. Either place your order on their website or call Mark directly at the shop. He was great to work with and I have good faith he'll be happy to take care of the rest of the FT86 community with just as much care. And again, anyone with an auto BRZ/FRS that lives in the NNJ area shoot me a pm and I'll try to get you guys together to have one made for those models.

I'll bite the bullet and buy one. 16-ish lbs of weight savings here I come! Let Mark know I just ordered one on their site and I'll eagerly wait for it and give a splendid review on here for more people to buy one if I like it.

Is there any kind of coating on it to discourage corrosion? Obviously there will be grease protecting the joints at each end, but using by BRZ as a daily driver in New England winters, I'm concerned about the long-term effects of road salt on the rest of the shaft.

I think there is a BIG difference in skill, tools and cost here....I do not know how big this shop is, but I do not see big name companies making 2 piece carbon drive shafts left alone local ones....

I know of a lot of RWD owners with aluminum driveshafts that see use all year long in the midwest and can't say any have failed due to salt corrosion. One twisted like a pretzel from too much torque on slicks but that's a completely different issue.

Such a design would add weight to the rotating assembly and negate the weight savings. Both carbon and aluminum shafts are stiffer than OEM, eliminating the need for a two-piece design. The OEM design is two pieces purely to add stiffness to an otherwise small tube plus help dampen any driveline vibrations that might bother the average driver.

If you need a two-piece design then you might as well stick with the OEM driveshaft.
