Buy cheap and then modify is what I'm doing,... had a very expensive iconic car,....it was a constant worry and a pain for me,... telling my girlfriend no drinks in car but water,...worried about road grime,...scratches.....door dings in parking lots....winter driving....screw that,.....to me this thing is a exceptional handling beater and I'm going to drive the hell out of it,.... and modify it to the extreme and still have money left over from what my previous car cost,....how extreme?..... all the usual stuff plus an engine rebuild with forged rods and pistons with lower compression to handle the boost ,....in a way that insures the life of the engine.....

Well, now to think about it. A Camaro SS cost about ~39k to 43k loaded
Whereas the BRZ is about ~28k loaded. Now, I have that extra 11-15k to spend on mods. I guess Im just waiting for a solid turbo to come out. Right now, most people are just in the R&D phase and waiting for more competitors to come up with a better and rigid turbo.

I do love the car, but I have noticed that I've really had trouble falling in love with it. I think it is due to the fact that it is like damaged goods at this point...I don't know why I feel this way, but I have yet to truly bond with it like my old car...maybe once I get the rear tail light and window dings replaced I will love it.

The only thing that is really bugging me is the grinding 2nd gear. Weather the car is warm or cold, it just grinds in that gear when shifting from 1st to 2nd, at any RPMs.
I should take the car to the dealership and get my first oil change done also. Maybe the TSB on the nav unit.

Purchased the car and got to enjoy it for 7 days and ~500 miles. It's still rotting in the shop after 31 days for the CEL issue. I wish I purchased the Cayman S as intended originally.

I regret not getting a 6spM.. I love the car and just now starting to modify.. But I rode in True Street Industries and was shocked at the difference.. I commute quite a ways for work and getting older so I was happy with the auto, but after that ride.. Which has a tune and the basic bolt ons, I'm like..... Damn

Have you actually driven any of those other cars? The Camaro SS is a boat, bad ergonomically, and not really a good comparison to the FR-S/BRZ. The only cars on your list that are remotely comparable are the BMW 128/328, but they're barely faster and a lot more expensive. They also don't have the same raw, unadulterated feel that you get driving the twins. I wouldn't trade my FR-S for any of those. |

Honestly, this has probably been the one purchase I've made in my life where I haven't even looked back and thought "Should I have reconsidered?"
Definitely no regrets at all. |

I knew exactly what I was getting, so no regrets. I have had jaguars, G35,370z, and now the FRS. For the price, I have never enjoyed a car so much.
