Hmmm... The thing about TD is that there aren't (m)any places that can match their quotes.
Especially if you use the many special group discounts they have (university students, professional associations, etc).

Either way we get reamed for insurance (surprisingly, I only pay about $1,400/yr)

I get a professional association discout. It's 1/2 the price of the next quote on insurance hotline.

Belaire Direct is ok with up to $5k in mods but was 2x TD again.

I'm currently with a broker. Their lowest quote was 3x TD.

Too many variables in terms of geographical location, what kind of cars and people are being insured in your area, what are the payouts for your type of car, etc. They have some fancy algorithm to figure this out. Like for me Intact is way cheaper than TD.

Well, you could just sell your exhaust to a fellow coworker and not have to worry about it.............. jk. I wish I could afford your exhaust - love the sound.

I guess for those who don't use the FRS/BRZ as a daily driver can look at something like Hagerty Insurance which is classic/collector. I spoke with someone there and they do insure newer vehicles as well, not just older than 15 years. But It limits your use of the vehicle and you need to have another car as your daily driver. Not ideal but may work for some.

When I signed up with TD-MM years ago, they actually made me go to an Apple Autoglass to have the car "inspected" (no charge) for mods. Mind you this was a brand new car too... they're trying to stay ahead of the don't tell crowd.

I recently received my insurance renewal and my premium dropped almost exactly 15%. Two vehicles, the FR-S and my Ranger. So I got my discount. I'm with CAA Ins for what it's worth.

They did that when I first insured my car when I was 20, but since then any car I've added to my TD-MM, they have never asked for that again.
