I'm not a boy I maintain and care for myself and wife. I save up for my frs since 2013 so I can manage it the way I wanted to money wise. I put 12 grand as my down payment and I always send my monthly payment with 200 or 150 extra. I'm not dumb I simply enjoy driving if I choose to use my money for a stupid bet I can. It's my money and I worked hard for what I have today.

Not like the exact same thing doesn't happen on here every day!

I think the OP has been much more responsible about the whole thing then I would have been at 18!

Shit, the race would have happened the day they proposed it and I would have either won (or lost) the $500 (about 3 weeks pay back then).

Mind you, to ask anybody's opinion on such a thing back then would have been about a 6 month process of sending letters to magazines, hoping one of them printed it and then waiting for the next edition to see the responses!

Audi TT... Wait, that's the one that looks like someone stepped on a VW Beetle?

Just forget the challenge and continually refer to his car as a Volkswagen or "squashed bug" whenever he tries to start shit.

All good except for the bold part that sounds like a contradiction. Glad you came to your senses and dropped the bet.

We didint drop the bet cause we came to our "senses". We dropped it cause if he drives my car to lap it he will purposely drive slower to higher his chances. That would make the bet dumb. I'll admit there might not be a reason to the 500 that makes seance to you, but again it's my money it was a simple bet like many people bet on sports.

Reinstate the bet, but make the winner the driver who has the best combined time driving both vehicles. That way there's an incentive to drive each car to its limit, so you'll get to see who's the better driver AND have a shot at seeing which car is faster.

Before you edited the first post you were considering betting on a street race, a criminal act. That's what makes no sense except to someone with serious lack of judgement, i.e., endangering themselves and other innocent people for money on public roads that could've led to jail and forfeiture of the car.

Incidentally, autocross has it's risks. Search here for an owner who rolled his at a sanctioned autocross. He wasn't injured but IIRC took a huge financial hit since almost all standard insurance policies do not cover racing, sanctioned or otherwise.

Anyway, sports betting vs. this isn't an analogy I'd make.

something to ponder about* you can loose control of your car and cause some serious damage if you are unlucky. I hope you can afford to fix/replace your FR-S if (knocked on wood) something happened. Insurance will not have your back.
It's arguable whether they are designed for fun rather than performance in mind. Unlocking that performance, however, arguably takes a few modifications.

I would agree with you that they are packaged for fun off the lot.

I'm tired of the FA20 bashing. Anyone that rags on this engine has no idea what it takes to squeeze power out of an NA engine, much less how to use it.

Considering their market, it took balls for them to tune it the way they did.

What do you mean by the way they tuned it took balls?

Did you just get your license, brah? If you did, you might have it taken away pretty quick. If you do decide to race against this guy, he's had a lot more time behind the wheel than you have so, yeah, I'm pretty sure that he's like a superstar driver in comparison to your newly acquired license to drive.

You might be the inexperienced Jesse to his Johnny Tran.
